What's the difference between supraventricular thachycardia and ventricular tachycardia?
Consumption of alcohol SAFE with supra-ventricular tachycardia?
So this has been asked plenty of times, all of which have been answered with alarmist answers such as 'it's not worth it' or 'you're risking you life' when anyone who actually suffers supra ventricular tachycardia knows it is NOT life threatening. To give an anecdote when I take a single puff of marijuana my heart rate shoots up 50 60 beats instantly, however I can drink an entire 12 pack of beer without it raising a single beat? So what's the deal with all the allegations that alcohol consumption triggers SVT? Before answering based on what you've been taught as a med student, or what your doctor tells you, please read the following study below that states " We conclude that alcohol consumption, although a risk factor for atrial fibrillation, is not associated with the induction of other supraventricular tachyarrhythmias in patients of working age." Submitted by " Correspondence Pekka Koskinen, M.D., Cardiovascular Laboratory, First Department of Medicine. Helsinki University Central Hospital, Haartmaninkatu 4, SF 00290 Helsinki, Finland, tel int 358 0 4712442" alcalc.oxfordjournals.org content 26 2 199.abstractThis is certainly a reputable source, so any interpretations on this common misconception? Katherine I haven't the faintest clue why you feel the need to get hostile with me, extremely unnecessary, and makes you look foolish, however you answer is irrelevant, I do not suffer from atrial fibrillation. I am at no more risk of A Fib than the millions of other people around the world that drink. And just an FYI, Wikipedia is not a valid reference when discussing complicated medical issues.

How dangerous is supra-ventricular tachycardia?
Last night I was rushed to hospital with a heart rate of over 250 bpm. The paramedics thought it was a panic attack, just did an ECG to be sure and immediately rushed me to the ambulance when they saw how fast it was.I was told by the consultant that it wasn't anything to worry about and was just a problem with my heart's natural pacemaker, but I have since looked it up online and come out with figures such as 6 % risk of cardiac arrest my sister is also a paramedic and she's said firstly she's never seen a heartrate that high... it was 250bpm after they were slowing it down and secondly that she's attended 25 cardiac arrests in the last year and not one has survived I've had these attacks a few times often ending in faints and I wondered if anyone could explain to me quite how dangerous supra ventricular tachycardia is and what treatments might be available so I can go more informed to my cardiologist appointment.Thank you

Can Ventricular Tachycardia cause siezures?
My mom has had three seizures this year. It is the first time she has ever had seizures that I've known of. The doctors can't find any neurological problems but say that she has ventricular tachycardia. I've looked it up online and read that it can cause a person to faint but this is more than fainting, she's actually seizing. Can this heart problem cause seizures?
Ventricular tachycardia do's and don'ts?

I know I'm not supposed to have caffiene but can someone tell me what sort of hot tea's I can and cannot have?
