Lung nodules after thyroid cancer?
I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer last year, then had two surgeries to remove my thyroid along with 13 lymph nodes and followed by radiation. I went to the doctor yesterday because I've had a bad cough lasting over a month, and we wanted to see if I've broken a rib. On my chest x ray, they found three nodules in my left lung. I am scheduled to have thyroid uptake scans soon, so they will check on the new nodules then as well. What should I expect to hear? Is my condition more serious with my past history? Has this happened to anyone else? I am a 16 year old female. I had follicular thyroid cancer. Any help is greatly appreciated
Hashimoto's? Or thyroid cancer?
I went for my yearly check up with no complaints. I walked out with a thyroid ultrasound due to thyroid enlargement she detected. It all makes sense now after researching it all I think I may have Hashimoto's. The past 2 years or so I've developed many common symptoms like extreme fatigue napping excessively even with 8 decent hours of sleep , dry skin and brittle hair, as well as more defining symptoms of panic attacks intense ones , reactive hypoglycemia, and excessive hair thinning. It's like I was glad she was so thorough because she may have solved it all. Part of me worries I have thyroid cancer. I'm just wondering what others think.
Treated for thyroid cancer, weird feeling in my neck/head?
I have a weird dizziness in my head, and I think one of my cervical lymph nodes is swollen. My question is, is this definitely a recurrence or could there be any other explanation?Don't tell me to go to the doctor, I live in Canada and I have to wait a few weeks...
My mom has thyroid cancer.... if she doesnt treat it, will she die?
So my mom had her thyroid taken out about 2 years ago because it had cancer but we found out it came back. Now she is 43 and a smoker but she told me that she doesn't want to go through Keomo. Will she die? And if yes, how long till it happens?
Can thyroid cancer cause hypo symptoms?
I'm currently waiting for a biopsy to be done on two nodules found on my thyroid. 5 years ago I had the left lobe removed due to a benign 5cm nodule, now they have found two more less than 2cm, and my thyroid is enlarged. If a nodule is cancerous, does it cause more symptoms than a non cancerous nodule. Or can non cancerous nodules cause things like hair falling out, dry skin, exhaustion, weight gain, etc even when thyroid levels are normal. On top of having hypo symptoms even though my level is normal, I also have a swollen lymphnode, hoarse voice and the feeling of a pill stuck in my throat.

Can you get pain in the base of the back of the neck from thyroid cancer?
im a 23 yr old female i went in to the dr with a cough and she was more concerned with the giant lump popping out from my left thyroid after the exam. They did a blood test and came back in the normal range but mildly low tsh. They then sent me for the ultra sound where they found my left thyroid was enlarged with a complex cystic 6.1 x 2.8 x 3.5 nodule centered in the mid pole greater in size than the other 2 that were also found during the exam im waiting on the biopsy to happen because the dr thinks there is a good chance of the larger nodule being malignant now but im getting some incredible pain in the base of my lower neck almost like whiplash where its super stiff and hurts when i move my neck around and the lump on my neck has become much more visible so i also believe it has grown in size. ive felt no actual pain in the region at all until now. i originally thought i just slept wrong on it but this has been persistent for the last week and a half even saw a chiropractor and massage therapist and received no relief. Ive taken ibuprofen tylenol and aleve and it doesn't do anything for the pain. Any ideas on if this is connected or has been a known symptom of thyroid cancer?
Papillary thyroid cancer follicular variant - followup post?
Hi my husband is 38 years old India. He found a 4 CM mass on left thyroid in November 2010 and ultrasound showed two small nodules on the left side and three other on the right side. Ultrasound guided fine FNA was performed and results came as benign. We also took CT scan in March 2011, and did not show any invasion or lymphnode enlargement. Any way we went to Endocrinologist for further treatment. Endocrinologist recommend to remove the left lobe to avoid taking risk. on Aug 26th, the hemithyroidectomy was performed and immediate froozen tissue section revealed no cancer. However, the stained histo pathology of the left thyroid results came like this Papillary thyroid carcinoma, follicular variant, 1.4 cm arising in a background of a benign adenomatoid nodule No lymphovascular invasion or extrathyroidal extension is seen Remaining thyroid tissue with chronic non specific lymphocytic thyroiditis and multiple adenomatoid nodules with a dominant benign adenomatoid nodule 3.5 cm . The dr. called us and gave surgery appointment to remove the right lobe as it has three nodules by ultrasound. The right side surgery went well and the path report came as 1.7 cm Papillary thyroid carcinoma, follicular varient but no lymphovascular invasion or extra thyroidal extension of the cancer seen. Since the cancer found on both lobe,The endo doctor suggested to gor for 100mci RAI treatment 3 weeks post operation. My husband stopped cytomel T3 for 2 weeks and had low iodine diet then took 100mCi radio active iodine. A week latter, PET scan was performed and the report shows large uptake of radiactive iodine in the left thyroid bed and moderate uptake in the right side. Alos two foci in the left side level I and II lympnode uptake iodine, indicating nodal disease. We are really concerned that the cancer already spread to the lymph node surgeon did not remove any lymphnode as there was no lymphnode enlargement at the time of surgery . We do not know what we can do next to kill the cells that spread to the lymph node? Any one have the similar story, please share with us to help making decision. Your suggestions will be helpful to talk to our doctor.ThanksMathumitha

Can thyroid cancer be seen with CT? Neck Swollen?
My neck has felt swollen on and off for about 6 months to a year. I went to the doctor for it and she sent me for a CT. Said that was fine and I haven't been back for it. It goes away and comes back and just today it's been hurting and so I'm going to make an appointment to see her and see if there's something else that can be tested to see if that's the cause. I do have hashimoto's thyroiditis and have for over 20 years. I did have a goiter, but was told there wasn't one a few years ago. Any thoughts about if cancer would have been seen with a CT or something I can research to have a better idea of questions I could ask my doctor would be great. Thanks. Also, I took kelp tablets a few years back and while doing this, it caused this same swollen neck pain. I really think it was related to the kelp which would be iodine. I have only seen how kelp is supposed to help neck swollen pain. So that seems strange to me that I'd be different. I'd love your thoughts and ideas.

What are symptoms of radiation for thyroid cancer?
My husband recently found out that he had a large nodule on his right thyroid, so the doctor did a biopsy and it showed no cancer, but after keeping an eye on it for about 2 years, they found that it was getting larger and thought it'd be best to remove it, so he had surgery to remove it. The pathology results showed that a small part of the nodule was a cancerous tumor, so now the doctor wants to remove the left thyroid just to be safe. After that they want him to have radiation treatments for about 4 weeks. What I am wondering is how will this effect him with his everyday life? I have heard that radiation causes you to be very tired and nauseous. Will he be able to work while he is doing the treatments or will it be best to take these 4 weeks off?

If thyroid cancer has spread to the lungs or anywhere in the body what would a ct scan report say?
My dad has thyroid cancer. And he had a ct scan done last week. We are going to pick up the report to see what it says. And i just wanted to know what exactly would the report say if his cancer has spread to other parts of the body. These doctors that we are dealing with will not tell us anything. To them my dad is in perfect health. That is why i want to know what the report will say. Will it say malignant, distant, spread? Or what other words would it have in the report to suggest that the cancer has spread. Thanks.
