Mild concussion? massive subdural hematoma? severe concussion? meningitis? OR cerebral contusion?
A man is brought into the emergency room after a motorcycle accident. At the scene, he was found unconscious, with numerous scrapes and bruises on the left side of his head and swelling above his right ear. When he regains consciousness 3 hours later, he complains of a headache and appears dazed. His speech is slurred, and his pupils are equal and reactive to light. Twenty four hours later, all signs appear normal. Which of the following would most likely be the diagnosis of his condition?a. mild concussionb. massive subdural hematomac. severe concussiond. meningitise. cerebral contusion
Has anyone been through with a family member a subdural hematoma?
I have a grandfather that has been going through a lot lately. Last year in November my grandmother passed away from a deadly disease that was untreatable. At the same time my grandpa was going through a double by pass surgery that he got over right away. And then he took a bad fall at a nursing home. So right now he had the surgery but he is not doing the same things that he did before the surgery. I was just wondering if anyone else can tell me their stories about it. My grandfather is turning 90 yrs old next month.Thank you.
Could someone have a subdural hematoma even if they are bleeding on their scalp?
if you get hit hard on your head and get a hematoma that bleeds, could you possibly have a subdural hematoma as well?
Understanding my friend's death of a subdural hematoma?
My friend died in October of 2010 while I was out of town. I am trying to understand what exactly happened to him. I know that he was murdered and there is an investigation, but I am trying to piece together what would have happened.I was told his killer hit his head against the wall 3 times he also had a spinal brain tumor that had been removed years previously which caused a subdural hematoma, but his cause of death is listed as aspiration of vomit. Also, he was alive for some time at the hospital, this is where I become confused. They allowed his mother to come and see him and she said he had a breathing tube and that his hands were already cold and blue and she felt that he was already dead at this point. She says that they " worked on him" but could not save him.I understand it's difficult to piece this together, but what exactly happened to him? Thank you.
Has anyone had a subdural hematoma from an auto accident that did not need surgery?
I had a left frontal subdural hematoma, but it resolved on it's own....I did lose my sense of smell from it....has anyone had a subdural or subarachnoid bleed that resolved on it's own? And as a result, did you have any remaining symptoms? Thank you...MSTESS......that is exactly the same injury I had, a motor vehicle accident with rollover and ejection

Subdural hematoma reoccuring?
hi im not sure where to start my boyfriend recently had operation for subdural hematoma. his 26, 5.6 and about 10 half stone.he didnt have a fall but complained abt headaches for a while then one day just blacked out, the scan showed he had subdural hematoma.he had op where they drilled holes & sucked out the hematoma not sure if this is right and it went wel, this was about 1 month ago.but his head ache continued & then felt that he was getting neck and back pain.he recently had scan he said it went ok but im not convinced. my question is what are the chances of it returning and being detected on the scan? also when he blacked out and subdural hematoma was diagnosed,it was only 10 days later he was operated on.y so long?so i assumed it was chronic subdural and not acute?am i right?im really confused but his not giving me any answers. please help.if he needs another op then what are his chances, wud they operate asap.in his first op it lasted 4 hours and 30 % chance of mortality.thanks
Subdural hematoma, or just a headache?
I was out skating with a friend, and while swerving to miss a fallen kid I fell myself. I hit hard on the back right side of my head if you draw a line from the top of the ear to the crown of the head it would be about 1 inch below that line, and exactly in the middle . I instantly curled into a ball and lay speechless with pain for about 5 10 seconds, then slowly sat up. By using the guide rail it was an indoor rink I made it back to the benches. it was another 2 3 around the rink, and I was at least 50 % numb the whole way. Body and head, like the feeling you get when you stand up too quickly. Buzzed and tingly. After sitting for about 10 minutes I felt well enough to continue skating, and I did so for another half hour. I had a bump that was about 1 1 2 in across, and a mild headache, but was otherwise fine. Before I continue, I will give a little needed background. When I was about 16 I was involved in a somewhat rough youth group game, and ended getting head butted hard in the side of the neck. I was examined on site by an EMT, and declared sound. I am now 20, and I have had chronic headaches ever since. I have had chiropractors and massage therapists work on my neck, but all there efforts do is stir up a one sided headache always in the same spot . All it takes is resting my head in my hands too long, or mildly jarring my neck or head, and I will have a headache that will last anywhere from hours to days, and range from mildly annoying to incapacitating. They, depending on the severity, are often accompanied by nausea and motion sensitivity. Now, from my skating injury, I have a headache that seems exactly like one of my chronic headaches. Except that it has lasted 3 full days with only slight slackening. This is not unheard of, as I have had headaches lasting up to a week. The only thing that actually has me worried is the fact that I don't remember WHY I fell. I remember striking the ice, and one photo like image of the kid in front of me, but that's it. Is it possible to have a concussion or subdural hematoma without any sort of abnormal eye response? I had my eyes checked about 45 minutes after the fact, and she said both responded fine. Also, none of my symptoms are getting worse. It seems that by now, if it was a subdural hematoma, they would have noticeable worsened.
Any doctos that can help with Subdural hematoma??
My boyfriend has subdural hematoma. Can he fly in a plane for 17 hours?
Subdural hematoma recovery??
I found out yesterday that a friend had fallen off of a roof and suffered a subdural hematoma. I guess the doctors drilled a hole in his skull to drain the blood, and now he is in an induced coma to reduce swelling, and on a ventilator. They said that he should make a full recovery. I know that these things vary drastically from case to case, but could anyone tell me about how long the doctors will keep him in a coma and on the ventilator as in, a few hours or a few weeks ?? And what will his recovery be like, and how long will he be in the hospital? As I said, I know that you can't really give me a definite answer, but just a ballpark estimate would be great, maybe from past experiences that you've had? I really know very little about the subject, so any knowledge would be nice. Thanks a lot.
