Effects of stroke that wipes out the left hemispheric visual cortex?
we know that a stroke in the cerebral cortex results in a loss of the function carried out by that cortical area. Imagine a stroke that wiped out the left hemispheric visual cortex. How would that affect the patient s vision? How would it be different from losing vision in the left eye?1 would be contralateral and for 2..I suppose part of the vision..?
Did I experience a stroke or Serotonin syndrome?
Ok I will try to explain this the best I can about an episode I had a few years ago. I know i'm a little paranoid but I never got an answer and it was the scariest thing that ever happened to me.So one night I was out with friends, I ended up passing out in his motorhome bed. I went to bed at 10 30, which is way early. I normally stay up late, have trouble sleeping. Anyways I was not drinking that night or anything all I had was a monster energy drink at about 8pm.And around 11 30 I woke up and it was horrible. I had trouble breathing, my head was pounding worst headaches migrane I had ever felt. I had no idea where I was I was delusional. I couldnt talk. I was dizzy and my ears were ringing. I had a strong urge to pee probably that monster so I got up and went to go pee which is like 10 steps out of the motorhome. As I was walking I collapsed. My friends ran to me and picked me up, I told them I did not feel good they said I was pale. I was extremely dizzy, I felt like I was going really really fast spinning in circles and I was in so much pain pressure from the headache. I had to pee bad so I hobbled outside and peed for about 3 seconds and then lost control of my legs and collapsed again. I tried my hardest to stand up but I was unable to. After minutes of efforts to stand back up I got up and continued my pee then tried to go back to bed. I felt like my head was going to explode like a bad hangover times 1 million.I collapsed 3 times walking to my bed. I had no control of my legs and walking. Luckily I crawled with my arms to the bed and lied down. My friends helped carry me the remaining 10 feet to my bed. They got me water and asked If I was okay. I had no idea what was going on. I was delusional and trying the best I could to manage the situation I had never experienced before. They gave me some water and I went to drink it and it felt better. My head was still dizzy but not as bad since I was laying down. We all sat there and prayed for like 20 mins that I would snap out of it. Between the water, lying down, and them calming me I felt a little better. My head pounding was less intense. I insisted that they didnt call 911 and I was okay. they all sat there with me till 2am to make sure I was okay, and forced me to stay in conversation with them so I wouldnt black out. eventually I was fine, and went to sleep. That was the most intense thing that has ever happened to me. The experience was unexplainable, especially when I was trying to talk and walk and couldnt. it happened in bursts where I would get movement back and could talk.Ok I will give some backround information about me. I was 18 19 years old at the time. I was pretty healthy physically, 6'0 170 pounds but A year or 2 before I had a bad motorcycle accident that lead me into ptsd anxiety. I was prescribed meds lexapro for the anxiety. After being on it for a year I weaned off it. this episode happened about 2 months after the lexapro. That is the only thing I could think of that made sense to me. I was not on any drugs or alcohol, nothing in my system. I did not get hit in the head at any point in time that whole month. Nothing significant happened that day, It was a normal day, though I drank a monster at 8pm which is late I normally dont do that. But I have had plenty of monsters and never a bad reaction. So if anyone could help me at least understand what I experienced that would really ease things for me. Like I said It happend a couple years ago im 20 now and have not had anything like this at all happen to me since then.
