I have a question about shingles and chickenpox.?
My 15 year old's doctor is on vacation this week and she has someone covering for her...only for emergencies. My 21 year old daughter wasn't feeling well, and she went to her college clinic yesterday. The nurse there thinks she is developing shingles. She made an appointment for my daughter to see the doctor tomorrow to confirm it. The question I have, and I will check with my 15 year old's doctor next week, but I need some advice a bit sooner is...the 15 year old never had chicken pox. I see by looking up shingles on the Internet that if a person who never had chickenpox comes into contact with the shingles blisters, they can catch chickenpox. Is it good idea to let my 15 year old be exposed and catch them? Chickenpox went around her school quite a few times, but she never caught them. I've looked into the vaccine, but it appears that the vaccine might not last through adulthood, putting her at risk when she is older. Any advice?
If you come in contact with someone with shingles what will happen?
How long does is take to know if you do actually have shingles or chicken pox or whatever?I didn't actually come in physical contact with her. I think. But I did touch something she touched.
When will the pain from shingles go away?
I got shingles about a month ago and received an antiviral, which stopped the rash from spreading. The rash and itching is gone and has been for almost two weeks, however the sore is taking forever to heal and it still hurts. It's not the same kind of pain I had while the rash was active but it still hurts a lot. When will the pain go away?? Will it leave when the sore is gone? And how long will that take?

It has been 3 weeks and there are still some scabs. I've just picked them off in a moment of folly..and I'm worried now. Will it leave scars? The scabs are pretty big and bleed a little when I picked it. If it leaves scars, are they the type that stays forever or fade in time?
What's with the lump after shingles?
I came down with a case of shingles in my left groin about two weeks ago. Right now mostly everything is cleared up, except where the harshest part of the rash was. I'm still waiting for that to completely heal over. But starting a couple of days ago a lump began emerging where I am still going through the healing process. It is about the size of a marble and is under the skin. It is pretty sensitive and hurts a bit if I push on it. Anyone have an idea of what this is? Wondering if I need to go back to the doctor for this.the shape of the lump is also a bit oblong, not perfectly circular.

How do I know if I have shingles or a cold sore?
I'm 18 and I've had shingles before, same with cold sores so Im not sure. I always just pass them off as cold sores because I just don't know. First time I know I had shingles was when I was 10, my mum took me to the doctors because she though it was just cold sore but I was getting them so often so I had a blood test done and it turned out I had shingles. I have either shingle or a cold sore now, at first it kinda started out as a little pimple type thing on the left side of my face where I always get them that I picked at then I broke out in a blistery rash and the whole left side of my face and head was tingly. I use Zovirax on them each time because it works to get rid of them in about 7days, if I didn't use it it would last probably up to a month or even longer. Anyone know which one it would be?

What stops the itch of shingles?
ok so iv got shingles on my back, moving down my arm, inside my mouth and on my breast on my right side and it really hurts and itches im already taking piriton, paracetamol and calamine lotion but these things don't seem to be helping verry much, the calamine helps for about 10 20mins and then it itches again and the calamine drys up and i cant move my arms verry much. Does anyone know what other things i can take to stop the itch? im not aloud out at all this next week and its my birthday on Tuesday
Can you have Shingles more than once?
I was diagnosed with shingles in November of last year. I went to the dermatologist and he prescribed me an antiviral medication. I took all but the last couple of doses of the meds. The rash went away, but now the pain is back and more severe than ever. The pain is only in one spot, but is ridiculous how much it hurts. I can't even touch my skin without it feeling like I'm being stabbed. The pain is a sharp, burning, dull pain. There is no itching or swelling and no sign of rash. Could I be about to get another outbreak? Have been under tremendous stress with work and finals for college. Any ideas?

im only 13 years old but my grandma is super sick with the shingles. she has only eatin 1 2 of an egg and a toast in 4 day what are some things she can eat with hurting inside and that doesnt make her tummy upset? this is the main problem...and also...how long can this last for??? and how contagious is it? please help only serious answers...also she has been very veyr tired and she in on meds.....OHHH and shes 72 ok THANKS also please answer as soon as possible
