Has anyone had trouble sleeping while taking lamictal for seizures?
This is my second go around with this medicine my doctor wanted me to give it 1 more try I am not sleeping very well and if I remember correctly I wasn't sleeping very well last time have been on it for 6 weeks now. On 100 milligrams had a day. so just wondering if anyone else has had trouble with this medicine. And I really don't want to take something they have to help make me fall asleep I don't want to be dependent on pills all the time.

Does this sound like simple partial seizures?
for about 3 years ive been having weird things happen to me i couldnt explain i tried finding an explaination but couldnt and it was hard to describe what was happening so i couldnt even get advice from a doctor. ive recently heard about simple partial seizures and from the symptoms it looks similar to what is happeining to me but jsut hoping someone here could confirm it before i see a doctor particularly someone who suffers with them too.basically i start to feel myself go in a dream like state, i feel a bit dizzy and light headed sometimes faint ringing in my ears, then a vision of some sort pops into my head like im watcing a film i get a sense of deja vu although i know what im seeing means nothing, its sometimes a memory but more often one that feels like a memory but i know deep down it isnt. i freeze while this happens and struggle to breathe properly so i breathe heavily and deeply like a woman in labour i automatically hold on to my head and look down which i have no control over. once it passes i feel light headed for the rest of the day then get a throbbing headache on the left side of my head which makes my head feel like its going to burst, the only relief is pushing down hard on the area. sometimes i get an 'attack' of these more than 1 a day or constant all week long then a big break where i think ti wont happen again and it starts, its not often where i get it happen one off.i dont know much about it, but could it be this particular case of epilepsy or could it be something else, i know it can seem like a panic attack too but it doesnt so much effect my pulse thatim aware of. it happens worse around my pregnancys which i had high blood pressure with so i assumed it was to do with that but im not pregnant my baby is 9 months now and it still happens as bad if not its definately getting worse.my dad has what i believe to be complex partial seizures which is similar but worse he has proper full body seizures. any advice apart from see a doctor? would like personal stories first.

Really bad headaches that can sometimes cause seizures?
I have a friend im concerened about because he has headaches often. They use ti be really bad when he was younger but he did take medication for it for three years which helped it to slow down but it still hurts him now. He told that he has had a couple seizures before. What exactly is going on with him? He is not even sure himself

Do I have seizures? Diagnose me?
Sometimes, I breath in and out about 3 times per second and I keep blinking and my eyes look up and to the left. Are these seizures? I've had them since the doctor kept switching my medications. My mother said these aren't seizures. But I'm convinced. Help?

Can you get seizures without being born with it ?
can you get it from watching too much tv or what ?

Panic attack or seizures?amygdala, temporal lobe seizure?HELP!!!?
Okay so it all started when i drank like 2 energy drinks and snorted adderrall for this test I thought i was going to die because my heart was beating so fast it was so scary I went to the ER because I thought I was gonna die but they jus gave me this relaxant and it turned out I was fine, well ever since then was having the same attacks when i took ANY kind of stimulant even in low doses that i was used to taking for years.I since have done meditation alot and it seems to help with the emotional composure part of it and can even have energy drinks again NO ADDERRALL ANYMORE but not some of the physiological parts like I still get sweaty my hands get cold I tense up and get really sore muscles after it happens yet I can maintain enough composure to where I can even work the customer service job that I'm doing with the upmost patience but I can still feel the physicall effect and notice when its running in the background.Well they say if its anxiety attacks the key is to no longer be anxious about them which I'm not I know I'm not gonna die but they still happen randomly alot less frequently than when i meditated but when they do it just annoys me yet its like my autonomous nervous system goes beyond my conscious control and does it anyway and i can't do anything about it and sometimes I can't sleep.is this no longer psychological and more of a seizure type of disorder?i've been checked for that and was told I was fine yet I wasn't having an attack when I was there so I don't know if they overlooked something, anyone ahve a similar experience??like I said i don't know how else to address it psychoilogicaly it past the point of scaring me at all but its EXTREME annoyance.because they say people who have seizures do different things beyond their conscious control like laugh uncontrollably, pass out, soil themselves before they return to normal, could this be one of those things thats no longer psychological?

Are the things i'm experiencing seizures?
One of my experiences was just last night and i was laying in bed trying to sleep it mainly happens when i'm laying down and close to going to sleep . Suddenly my whole body had a tingling sensation i couldn't move not even my lips. I can't explain my vision 'shaky' i guess? I tried to call for my dad because i was scared but i couldn't even make a noise all that came out was air. It finally stopped and i called for my dad. He said sense i was half asleep my body was probably just in my dreams but it seems like more than that because really i was more than half awake my eyes were just closed and i was thinking because i couldn't sleep. Plus this has happened more than once. Even if it isn't seizures what does it sound like and how should i stop it from happening?Oh and i couldn't remember anything i thought before i had this last night so with the others

What is the treatment for seizures?
they separate the two hemisphere of the brain by cutting the corpus callosum. Do they leave the two parts or do they take one out? my real question is it possible to live with just one hemisphere of the brain?

18 year old female having seizures....?
I am an 18 year old female. I went to london last summer to visit my family and all of a sudden had a seizure out of nowhere. I am not known for any type of medical condition.....we just thought this was something and let it pass....when i returned to the US my mom walked in on my having one in my sleep and called the ambulance...i went to a doctor and what not which turned out to be really sh t, and said i partied too much? my mom got very mad at that and switched me to another doctor who is GREAT. they took CT scans and stuff and found I had a scar on my brain which i could of possibly be born with. I have been taking medicine since about January for it. I stopped taking my medicine for a few days ... which is my fault and I had been drinking a bit too the past dew nights and my friend saw me having a seizure...she let it pass...and then i had another one in a total of one hour... her and her mother took me to the ER and on the way there i had another f cking one...which i resulted in throwing up...i went to the ER and what not....my parents were away at this time but drove 3 hours that night to come get me...they got me and took me home where I HAD ANOTHER ONE. I am so young...yes, it was my fault for not taking my meds but it just makes me upset I have to take medicine everday in order to keep my seizures under control....like what about when I want to have babies? I used to take topamax with my other physician which cost $700...topamax caused me to have bad side effects such as memory loss and weight loss...which i am already pretty thin...i am on lamictal now which is only $13 and my parents are like wtf but still....? will I have to take this medicine all my life? ? I am so young...I want to live a healthy life and I never thought this would happen to me... will I be ok in my future years???

Question about my complex partial seizures?
I am 23 years old and have had Complex Partial Seizures since I was about 13 years old. I still have no idea how I started having them no head injuries but I have been on so many different kinds of medication and none of them have been successful. I am now on a different medication that works, but I stupidly keep trying to get off of my medication to open up more career fields and I can go 2 3 days without any but then they start up again I've had 2 seizures today alone . My symptoms include tingling in my face and arms, odd taste in my mouth, slurred speech, saying things that make no sense, temporary amnesia, nausea, and not panic attacks but fright. What should I be doing? These seizures not only limit the jobs I'm eligible for, but also seems to send a lot of potential girlfriends running in the other direction.

Anyone know anything about seizures?
when i was 15 i had a seizure with my eyes rolling during my sleep and my mom walked in also my breathing was shallowthis happened twice in 2 days. my mom did try to walk me around and i wouldnt i was limp and my dad was slapping my face and holding my tongue..but both clamim that just my eyes were rolling but i was unresponsivei was only given that eeg at the hospital and they said i had a seizurea gran maul seizureand the nuerologist there said i had epilepsy my dr thought it could be a reaction to the sleeping pill which was prescribed to me after a car accident for sleep i do not remember the name of it but they all agred i shouldnt have been on itthen i was put on dilantin and my levels have always been low but they never adjusted it because they said iw as having no seizuresthen i seen my first nuero in 14 years this year and he performed hand tests on me and things and said i should get an eeg which i cant afford and said that i would probaly never have another seizure.and then my family dr adjusted my dilantin after 14 years to 4 pills a day instead on 3. and my level stayed the samei am now 30 and have been seizure free since that second onei stopped dilantin once and remained seizure free for 6 months then got scared so started taking it again

I think I had a seizure but I'm not sure?
I should let you know I have POTS disease. today in gym class, I was slightly dizzy so I went to the nurse. A few minutes later I decide to go back. I was then back to playing volleyball. The next thing I know is I'm convulsing violently through the air. And the next thing I know after that is I'm surrounded by my gym teacher and a bunch of students. There was even enough time apparently for my friend to run to and from the nurse's office. Last Friday, I was in the ER and they took a CT scan but I haven't gotten time to bring it to a neurologist yet. Even another doctor before this incident was wondering if I could be having miniature seizures. Ps I'm 13

Unexplained Seizures? Any thoughts?
A little over 3 years ago my mom would have seizures every like 3 months estimating and at one point she went through a week of having seizures almost every day, sometimes more than once a day. By the end of that week she could even tell when she was about to have one. She went to the doctors and they put her on a medicine, but they said she wasn't epileptic. She does have Long QT syndrome, I was wondering if that could cause these spells? She does get head aches, but not migraines, they are just small head aches here and there. Now just yesterday her and I were driving to the cities to pick up my sister and she had one for the first time in 3 years. She went off of the medicine a long time ago too. SHe was driving while she had it. I jumped over to her and pulled the car over as she was accelerating. It was scary But then she went to the hospital and was fine, nothing wrong but a head ache I don't want this to start all over again I am only 17 and my mom and step dad have recently gotten a divorce, and my mom had to quite her job. She was in the process of looking for a new one at a job force center, but now she cannot drive until she is cleared by the doctor , not until next month. We are really stressed out, and now even more because we are scared. But she has been more stressed than this before, so I don't think the seizures were caused by stress....ANyways, any help, advice or opinions thoughts would be wonderful

Why do people STILL think that when you have a seizure you can choke on your tongue?
There seems to be a misconception floating around that when a person has a seizure they can swallow choke on their tongue, and that one should shove something in their mouth to prevent this. This is amazingly false. People also think that all seizures are the same ie. they're never painful, the person having a seizure is always unconscious, etc. . Why are people STILL so incredibly misinformed?I am saying that there are many kinds of seizures. Some are painful, some are not. Some people remain conscious, others do not. Etc etc. And it is 100 % impossible to choke on your tongue. You can BITE your tongue, yes, and you can turn blue if you're not put in the recovery position, but you CAN NOT choke on your tongue. I've had seizures for 19 years. I know this stuff. And it's amazing to think that some epileptics themselves don't.I have had 5 specialists, and one was an epileptologist. All of them agree you can not swallow your tongue unless you cut it off and then swallow it. It is attached to the bottom of your mouth via frenulum, and if you try it now you will fail. It can not block the nasal passages, so as long as they are clear then a person can not suffocate from a tongue pulling back. If something is shoved into a person's mouth while they are having seizures they can be seriously injured. Broken teeth, cuts, and choking on whatever object is shoved into their mouth are great possibilities. If you still think you can choke on your tongue during a seizure, do some research online. Check medical journals. You won't find a shred of genuine medical evidence from say, 1990 onwards saying otherwise.
