rheumatoid arthritis Information
What's the remedy for rheumatoid arthritis?
My fingers become swollen whenever i do washing.I am suffering for over 6 years now.The medication only works for a short time.
What were your symptoms before you were diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis?
I'm only 18, possible to have rheumatoid arthritis?
I'm not sure if that's what I have... but I think my hands look like it. Maybe an early stage, not like those horror pictures that you see on the internet of old people with horribly deformed hands. But my finger joints are definitely noticably enlarged and look a bit like crypt keeper hands, and my fingers themselves are starting to look a little crooked and ugly. No one else notices, and when I ask them they say, oh, it's probably just because you're skinny though I'm average weight for my height . First noticed it about 3 or 4 years ago but seems to have been getting progressively worse... I've also cracked my fingers in many ways since elementary school, probably on a daily basis as a nervous habit also have social anxiety . My joints are definitely stiff in my fingers, which is horribly scary to me as I play guitar and piano and also use a computer keyboard on a daily basis. Also am enduring pretty bad knee, back and neck pain and problems. Should I be worried, could this be the infamous rheumatoid arthritis? If it is, is there any way that my fingers can be fixed and I can go on playing guitar and piano without getting very noticeable pain and stiffness after only about 15 minutes? Thank you for your response

Question for people who have rheumatoid arthritis?
I have had Rheumatoid Arthritis now for 20 years or more. The Doctor said he thinks it might have started because I chew my nails. I know this is an Auto immune problem but is it really possible to get RA like this? I figured I got because both my parents mums had it and my uncle has it so thought it was just passed down. Does any others with RA chew Their nails?
Can I outgrow juvenile rheumatoid arthritis? ?
I am 16 years old and was diagnosed with juvenile rheumatoid arthritis when I was 20 months old. My pain doesn't stop me from being active but I still have active symptoms and I take Enbrel and celebrex for medication. Is there any way I could possibly out grow the disease and it will go away or will I have it forever? Thanks for your help.

A question for people that have juvenile rheumatoid arthritis?
I was diagnosed at age 12 and I'm now 23 and it has gotten worse over the past year. The pain is so severe that I cannot sleep. It's mainly in my hip and knee joints. I'm scheduled to see a rheumatologist in June but what do you do to help ease your pain? I'm also severely fatigued which is a huge problem since I have 2 kids and work 40 hours a week. I just want to hear what helps other people cope with the pain and fatigue, thanks for your input
Could i have been misdiagnosed with juvenile rheumatoid arthritis?
I was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis at the age of 15. After draining the knee and receiving a steroid shot i began treatment on Voltaren and Sulfazalzine sp? . Up until about a year and a half ago it was helping Always had discomfort but it definitely helped with the inflammation. My knee has since then been drained twice, returning back to the size of a watermelon in a few days I have tried methotrexate, minocyclin, and prednisone. I take fish oil and ibuprofen everyday. Nothing helps Is there anyway that rheumatoid arthritis is not the issue here? And why is it only my knees????i should mention i am 22 so still very young to be experiencing such severe joint problems.
Need people to talk to about rheumatoid arthritis, can anyone help?
I was just diagnosed with RA of the hips and knees in late August last year. Ive had symptoms of its since I was a teenager, but the doctors always put it down to something anything else...growing pains, back knee injury, or " phantom pains" The only person who ever took it seriously was my midwife when I was pregnant with my son, it was extrememly difficult to do internal exams etc because of the lack of flexibility in my hips this is also caused by my hips not forming properly from birth, which i recently found out as well She sent a note to my GP requesting a referral is sent for further testing, then nothing was done, until I had to see a different doc when mine was away, for a smear test and it was too difficult for me. She had bloods taken, I had xrays scans done then she sent me to see a rheumatolgy specialist, which was a long waiting list, who confirmed I have RA, but very mild. I have had the pain flare up a few times since then, but it has been manageable. Over the past weekend though, I had it flare up, the worst I have ever had. It was almost unbearable. I saw my GP yesterday who has put me on various pain meds to take regularly and put me on a pain management programme. Its really, really scared me how painful this can be I work fulltime, have a 2 year old son,and my husband is currently off work due to a severe back injury, so it hasnt been easy. We dont have family nearby, so we dont have alot of support with our son. Its meant I have had to take time off from my job to recover, as I cannot rest over the weekend. Is there anyone out there with Arthritis who needs someone to talk too? Im needing to talk to someone who can relate and hear me out as well, and to share what we are going through. No one in my family has it and I feel very alone, and not sure where to turn to. I live in New Zealand, if thats of any help or of interest to anyone. Thanks for taking time to read my post.Im on regular brufen, codiene and paracetamol, when I saw the Rheumatologist in Aug last year he didnt see a need to put me on anything stronger i didnt then either to be honest I have had a look on the Arthritis foundation website, and will look at signing up. Where I work could actually come in handy for some more knowledge we do needs assessments and service coordination for people with disabilities so I will ask around as much as I can to see what I can do. I feel really alone in this, and as much as my husband is supportive, I feel like no one understands what it is like, what the pain is like. He has a severe back injury atm too, and we have a toddler, so it isnt easy thats for sure

Rheumatoid arthritis or Ross river fever ?
Im 16 and the doctor never mentioned Ross river fever, only rheumatoid arthritis but the symptoms are so alike. I know the arthritis can be brought on by stress and I've recently found out my dads a drug addict, and I've already lost my mother to drugs. As for Ross river, I've been bitten by about 3 different mosquitos. These are my symptoms.Stiffness in joints in the morningPain in jointsBad sleep at nightChronic fatigueFlu symptoms fever, earacheRefluxVery dry painful eyesTwitching in calvesNo appetitePsoriasisHeadaches migrainesStrep b reoccurring my doctor said this could have something to do with my arthritis if it's that.I live in Newcastle, NSW so not exactly in an area where Ross River occurs but I was wondering what you think it sounds like more.
