Hello, I was feeling a little sick, and did not have a fever. I waited about one week until I saw a doctor. He did a throat culture, and it was positive for strep. I started antibiotics that day zithromax z pak .During that one week time of untreated strep, is it possible it could have caused rheumatic fever?

I had rheumatic fever in September 2009. My doctors have advised me not to become pregnant. I have mild damage to my mitral valve and have to take 250mg of penicilln two times a day. I've asked the doctor why and he just keeps avoiding the question. If someone knows please tell me.

I am 19 years old and I'm scared of having rheumatic fever. I've had strep throat and German measles one week ago. Now, I am experiencing migrating joint pains. Is it possible that this is only an infection for having German measles one week ago or can it be a sign of rheumatic fever? How likely that this is rheumatic fever?

Strep throat & rheumatic fever, help!?
I currently have strep throat, and in the past when I had strep I was prescribed amoxicillin and got rheumatic fever, I told my doc this, but he still gave me the amoxicillin, and he said if this doesn't do the trick call back, Im currently on pain meds, they are working wonderfully, but as for the infection, it's still there, can rheumatic fever develop again? & because I have had it before, can it develop faster?

Do I have rheumatic fever?
I am a 28 year old, white male. I had untreated strep over a month and a half ago. About three weeks ago I developed chest pains, abdominal swelling as well as the liver area , a rash on my legs, shortness of breath at times, pleurisy at times, heart palpitations, and a fever that comes and goes as well as general fatigue. I went to the doctor 2 and half weeks ago, had liver function test, cbc, mono test, strep test, chest x rays, and EKG. All of these tests came back normal. I was given an antibiotic that I finished taking 4 days ago and was told to take aleve to deal with swelling. I am still experiencing pretty much all the symptoms that I described and it has been 3 weeks this Friday. Every time I go to the doctor they tell me they think it's viral and that I should come back in 10 days if I am not feeling better. I just tried to get an appointment with yet another doctor but was told there will be a week before I can be seen. I am growing frustrated by the day with the lack of diagnosis and treatment and am wondering what I should do or if anyone has an opinion on what this could be. Any advice opinions on what my illness could be or ways to treat the symptoms would be very much appreciated.
What are the treatment options for Rheumatic Fever?
I'm a 28 year old male, and I've been dealing with what seems to be rheumatic fever for the last 3 weeks had untreated strep over a month ago . I have a constant pressure in my chest and shoulder blade on the left side, abdominal and liver area swell after eating and drinking anything, and occasional fever. Outside of fatigue and shortness of breath, my inability to sleep has been the biggest problem so far. I can sleep for 2 hour intervals and then I wake up with swelling in various body parts and a general light headed feeling. I am currently waiting to be admitted to a doctor, and have been through several tests by urgent care and one other doctor, that all came back normal chest x ray, ekg, liver function, cbc, strep test, mono test . All prior doctors told me it was viral and to come back in 10 days if I did not feel better. Well I've done this 3 times and I still don't feel any better than I did 3 weeks ago. Does anyone have any advice for treatment of these symptoms or tests medications I should request from doctor when I eventually get to see them?
Post Rheumatic Fever?
I have been diagnosed with post rheumatic fever and I was told that I got it by taking an antibiotic for bronchitis and that my body produced bad bacteria that went in to my joints. Now I am being treated just like I have had rheumatic fever with the antibiotics over the next 3 5 years. I have to get an EKG done to make sure that the heart is ok, and am on steroids for the pain in my muscles and joints also am on anti inflammatory drug. Any detailed explanation on this matter would be much appreciated. By the way, I am a 51 year old female.
Is Rheumatic fever causing this?
I've had rheumatic fever ever since elemantry and im now 14.. but i need to know if i am getting some itchy quarter sized lumps on my arm, neck, foot, and shoulder as a cause of the rheumatic fever. So far i have about 4 of these lumps and at times they start itching. i will be going to the doctor soon but i am curious on knowing what's causing this.
