Rh Incompatibility
rh incompatibility Information
Need help from someone who understands rh incompatibility!!?
I have type o negative blood and my son is o positive. Earlier today my son had a bloody nose and I came to the rescue with tissues in hand ready to stop the bleeding. The problem came after his nose stopped bleeding, I realized that I got some of his blood on my hands which unfortunately have a few open cuts on them due to dry skin. I think I may have gotten some of his blood in my cut, only a very small amount though. Also my son decided it was a good idea to stick his dry bloody fingers in my mouth while I was cleaning his nose and chin off. I'm extremely concerned about having his blood mix with mine and creating antibodies. My husband and I are trying to get pregnant so of course I'm freaking out I don't know who to call to ask but is this exposure with my sons blood enough to create antibodies? Help
RH incompatibility in second pregnancy?
I was not aware that I had a negative blood Rh during my first pregnancy until I gave birth. I switched doctors halfway through my pregnancy and i don't really know how I was never told about it. The doctors were a bit worried about my daughter, but she was fine. I was in NJ with my first and I am now living in CA pregnant with my second. I have a brand new doctor and I mentioned it to him and he kindof blew me off so I figured it was no big deal. I get this email pregnancy newsletter that mentioned the rh incompatibility and I never realized how dangerous it can be to this baby. I have been unable to find anything that really tells me what to do online. I can't get to my records in NJ to see if I had this test done to see if I was sensitized to RH positive blood, or if I had the needed shot after. What I am gathering from what I have just been reading is that I should be closly monitored and have tests done while it is early in my pregnancy, and maybe get a shot at 28 weeks and while in labor?? Can anyone please shed some light on this for me? I am really worried now and I feel as though I wasn't given proper information, and my new doc disregarded my questioning. Are there precautions that I should be taking? Thanks so much.
