i have 2 brothers and 2 sisters who has retinitis pigmentosa we are trying our best to look to find a cure for them we saw that this will probably be it has anybody heard about this? we also heard that retinal implant chip works too anybody please answer nicely.first thing i do not have a son my sis usally goes in to my account and does these questions sometimes and i do have a daughter we thought she had epilipsy but thankfully turned out she doesn't.

Visual acuity in retinitis pigmentosa patient?
My mother was diagnosed with retinitis pigmentosa. She started taking lutein and zeaxanthin supplements and claimed that she could sometimes read from her book of prayers without wearing glasses but still has to wear them most of the time .I'm kind of sceptical. Is it just placebo effect? Moreover, she could easily have " read" from her mind's eye since she's been saying the prayers for years, though it's very long and in an ancient language.Is it usual for a person suffering from RP to have improvements in vision such as this? Isn't RP supposed to cause cell death as opposed to occlusion of of the visual field? If the vision loss is due to loss of photoreceptors then how can any supplement help? You could delay the progression of RP but can you really significantly improve vision without generating new photoreceptors?
Can retinitis pigmentosa happen with no family history?
my son went to the optician the other day and he said that he can see little bits of pigment at the back of his eyes mainly his left eye and he says it could be ret pigmentosa but my husband and i have no family history that we know of. does this mean that my son wont have it or could he still have it? i dont quite understand why he would have it when we dont have it in our families. my son is very active and likes to cimb and things and i dont know if this condition would stop him doing these things? i would be heartbroken if thiswas the case. please help thank you for your reply this is very helpful but can you tell me what an ERG is please?

Hello, My Eyes have recently been diagnosed with retinitis pigmentosa, Darkness ..
