Can an abnormal liver test be a sign of porphyria?
When I started puberty, I started acting hysterical, paranoid and confused. I also couldn't eat enough. I was taken to the doctor to check if I had a thyroid problem runs in the family and they did some kind of liver test that was really high or not good. They didn't investigate it further. What would be the common liver test they do and could it be a sign of porphyria? I have other reasons to believe I could have porphyria because of dark urine, neuropathy and psychological problems, the onset, and abdominal pain.lol you bloody mystical nut

I have other reasons to believe I could have porphyria because of dark urine, neuropathy and psychological problems, the onset, and abdominal pain.There was also no response to the psych medication they made me take actually the opposite of what they wanted to see , so no one could very well argue that it was a " chemical imbalance" or whatever. I just wanted to know if abnormal liver tests can be a sign of porphyria, not a diagnosis.

If I am not mistaken, porphyria is a disease where a person has something wrong with their blood and must have constant blood transfusions or drink blood. I have been told that a lot of serial killers with porphyria have to constantly kill people to stay alive. I am wondering just how long they can last without doing this.

I might have porphyria??
My mother was said to have some type of porphyria after she had an " attack" . But this was a while ago so she is not sure if she really does have it. Now i am having the same type of symptoms she has and she thinks that she might have passed it on to me. I read up about it but i am still confused, maybe i just read some unreliable source so i figured it wouldn't hurt to ask you allI mostly only get random pains in my sides and back as if they were on my rib cage? Maybe i feel weak sometimes, but that is about it. all of the symptoms i read about were so extreme and i don't have any trouble with those. like my skin is fine in the sun. Can anyone shed some light on this? If i don't have porphyria what could i have? I may get a blood test sometime and will probably start taking vitamins. Any help is appreciated and if you have any questions to ask please message me.

about this disease. my new wife suffers from this and i watch as she she goes thruogh these severe cramps and pains.. it hurts much so much that i can't do anything. most american dr's haven't even heard of this. and they think she is lying about this. i would like to find info on treatments they have in england. even home rems as long as they work. and r safe....please...some one help me help her.........
Question regarding porphyria urinalysis?
I have to do a 24 hour urine test, however the lab gave me 2 jugs. One with and one without HCL. Im pretty sure Im not supposed to use both jugs because Im thinking its going to throw the numbers off because only half the urine would be in there. The labs are closed and my doctors office is closed. Im starting to have symptoms and will probably need to start the test tonight. Does anyone have experience with this and know what I should do? I only get monthly symptoms so if I miss this window Ill have to wait another month to do it.

Dietary Supplement for Porphyria?
Ok I know what porphyria is. I just wonder whether there is a dietary supplement that can help? Traditionally, people with porphyria got the enzymes that their body lacked by drinking the raw blood of animals. Quite frankly, that's dangerous. There are expensive medications, both oral and injectible, that can be taken. But, I wonder, are there dietary supplements that could help? While a dietary cure is not at all likely, could there be something to lessen the amount of medication needed, thereby lowering the cost of care?
Could having Porphyria result in having to drink blood?

If suffering from this disease, could you possibly drink human blood and replace the Heme in your body through digestion? And if so, would we not categorize Porphyria victims of Vampirism?
