Can you have whooping cough (pertussis) without a fever?
About a week ago I started getting what I thought was allergies, but it got worse and worse and then my boyfriend got sick, so I assumed it was just a cold the flu. I had a really bad stuffy and runny nose, a sore throat, I was achy and tired. But I never did get a fever. Then I started getting a cough which was worse at night.But now my cough is pretty bad and I cough a lot. I don't have a " whooping" noise, or a fever or anything, and everything I've read said I would have a fever. And I don't cough so bad a turn blue or throw up. Just enough that my neck and head hurt from coughing so much and so hard.My question is is it possible to have whooping cough without a fever? I had asthma when I was younger and I get bronchitis easily, but Idk if that's what it is. I don't have insurance right now so I don't want to go to the doctors if it's not necessary but with whooping cough being so big right now I'm concerned about catching it or already having it.Any information would help

I've had a frequent cough for the past 3 weeks. in the beginning it just seemed like a normal cough you'd get from a cold, but eventually the coughs got deeper. As in when i coughed, i started sounding like a horse, if you get what i mean? I started to cough even more at once. Eventually i got into big coughing fits where i'd cough for about 15 seconds non stop, but this past week it's gonna really bad.. sometimes i have myself gasping for air from coughing so much, and eventually i just end up puking at the end of the coughing fit.. Now i'm really worried. At my doctors i've never heard of them giving out pertussis shots so it scares me that i might have it. And those commercials with the babies in it.. its really sad and scary D Any advice? Or could it be something else? i have no idea where i would have gotten it if its really pertussis though. i dont recall anyone i know having this problem...

I had a D-TaP shot when I was younger and had a allergic reaction to the pertussis .. ?
I am now 24 and my boss wants me to have it again. She says it could be different or that my body might not react the same to it as it did when I was a kid. I called my doctor and haven't heard back yet so I thought maybe someone on here might be able to give me some insight . Thank you

About a month ago, there has been one case person of whooping cough in my high school. Is it possible that people could still get pertussis now? Going to nursing school. They say I need the Dtap inoculation. Can I just get them seperately.Well it's not that i want to receive them seperately. It's just that the pharmacy is not offering the Tdap. It only offers the dipheria,tetanus, and pertussis vaccine individually. Just wanted to know is getting the vaccines individually the same as getting the Tdap.

So I have been sick for almost two weeks now. I thought it was just a cold but I never get sick longer than a couple of days and this is unlike any cold I have ever seen. I was recently up in Washington where a epidemic of whooping cough is breaking out. but i had a tdap vaccine like two months ago. So can you get pertussis if you've had the vaccine?

As a child I had an allergic reaction to the pertussis vaccination and never received more than one. My children have all gotten the vaccination with no problems but they are saying that this disease is on the raise and that parents who have babies should get a booster for it. My question is if I were to have another child would I still be at risk as an adult to have an allergic reaction to it like I did when I was an infant?Mother said I got hives, had a fever of 103 a day later and was screaming for a day and a half straight. I am 30 years old and am not allergic to eggs. Could you wait out strep throat or Pertussis?
My friend thought she had Strep throat, but her doctor says that strep throat doesn't come with a cough and pertussis is spreading through my school. I'm pretty sure I have whatever she does, but I don't really want to go to a doctor and get meds for it. Are there any permanent repercussions from waiting it out? Thanks.
