I have had this awful pain in the bone under my right eye for over 4 months now along with pain in a tooth that has had a root canal in it. We travel full time, so I have been to many dentist in different states and have told them about all this pain and that I knew it was that tooth. They all said that it's not that tooth, you've had a root canl it it. One dentist took an x ray of the teeth on the top and said you need 2 fillings, you have cavities and that's why you have that pain. He did the fillings and said it won't hurt anymore and sent me on my way. The pain did not go away. We got to WA and finally a dentist took an x ray of that tooth and said, you need to see a specialist, the root canal wasn't completed all the way and the piece of nerve that was left in infected. So, i went to a root canal specialist. She was very nice and said that she just didn't understand the pain underneath my eye and that that worried her. I have been on all kinds of antibiotics and none of them have helped the pain. She said that she thought I had a fracture in it and it need to be removed. So we got to CA and finally had it removed. Well..the tooth didn't hurt much until the 4th day and it was awful pain. I was told I had a dry socket. I went to the dentist that pulled over and over and told him the pain in my bone just won't go away and that I am running a fever for almost 3 months and something else is wrong besides the dry socket and all he told me was that you let the tooth sit there that long being infected that it's going to take that long to heal. He stopped giving me any pain meds and all he would do was pack the hole, which didn't help the bone pain at all and it only stayed in a couple of hours. I have since stopped seeing him and have went to an urgent care, and the Dr there has been very nice and says he is worried that it migh be osteomyelitis and that I need to go to the er and have a bone scan. We don't have any insurance so it has now cost me with all the different dentist over the past 4 months and the extraction over 6 thousand dollars. My question has anyone ever had these kind of symptons and found out that they did have osteomyelitis. My symptons are....1 pain in the bone under my eye for over 4 months 2 fever for over a month 3 weight loss 4 chills, i can't decide if i am cold or hot 5 I just do not feel right, I am always in bed do not have any energy 6 I know this might sound crazy but it's like I can feel the infection crawling up my face 7 spmetimes it hurts so bad it makes my eyes water. And to make matters worse, I have a 3 month old new baby boy, my first, that I can't even enjoy because of this thing....Please help....

Osteomyelitis Question?
If an 86 year old patient comes in with osteomyelitis as a result of a hip replacement, what would his symptoms be and what would you do to get rid of it?
Can Osteomyelitis be caused by long term ingrown tonail?
My husbands big toe and then his whole foot became very swollen and distorted. He had surgery in April to straighten the toe, but his foot continued to swell and he has now been told the metal plate inserted has broken and the bone has not healed. Surgeon now wants to graft bone from his hip into his foot, but does not seem very hopeful of success and no one has given us any diagnosis of the initial cause. It was suggested to me by a friend that infection from the badly ingrown tonail may have caused osteomyelitis, but when we suggested this we were told it was very unlikely.
