Questions of retrobulbar optic neuritis?
My ophthamalogist told me that it would take 2 3 weeks to heal. I'm now in my 6th week. I've had two MRI's and I am waiting on test results, I called my doctor on tuesday, but he has yet to respond to my message. This is my first episode of neuritis, and the underlying cause has yet to be diagnosed. It is only in my right eye, and since I initially noticed the vision change, it has gotten worse, over the 6 weeks. Is there any sort of vitamins I can take to make the healing process quicker? I am a 19yo female. We suspect MS because of other symptoms I am having, such as weakness and fatigue. If you have any other question's let me know.
Did you go back to work right away after having optic neuritis?
Hello out there I lost vision to my right eye a month ago and have been off work since. I am still not 100 % but is improving after high dosage of IV steroid. I wonder if you had similar experience, how long did you wait until you go back to work?
Can anxiety cause optic neuritis?
Ok , I have had O.N on two ocasions now lasting appprox 2 weeks , started in left eye ended in right eye both times . This happened in Oct both times 1 year apart and its starting to scare me again as its Oct now and have had nothing yet .My optometrist took pictures and says he see s No evidence of inflamation , However my GP sent me in for an MRI and says it s suggestive of M.S . I really have No other major symptoms of M.S , maybe a lil twitch here and there . I do have hyperhidrosis profuse sweating of forehead , and severe anxiety . I don t take pills anymore for anxiety but was on Zoloft for some few years .I have had anxiety my entire 30 years in this world , so Ive always managed by avoiding most everything i can . Also I think I may have ADHD , Cloudy thaughts , etc . Any help is muchly appreciated or similar situations

Eye pain..? another optic neuritis attack?
i have MS and optic neuritis. my last attack was in late late July, early August. i was put on IV steroids and then the pill form. i looked up the symptoms of optic neuritis again, because last time i had blurry vision, and could very well only see hand movement out of my right eye with my last attack. i looked the symptoms up and it says eye pain whenever the eye moves is one. i am currently experiencing this, with i think a little blurriness in my left eye. does anyone think this is another optic neuritis attack? or.. something else? please help thank you
What is optic neuritis?
Do I have optic neuritis?
Not sure if I have this, but I seem to have alot of the symptoms. I'm 18, and I'm going to the eye doctor tomorrow. It's late, and I can't sleep because of the pain. At first, I thought it was just severe eye strain, but it's been 9 days, and it hasn't stopped. It started with me lying down, then the back of my eyes felt like they were being sucked to the back of my head. Over time, this began to start hurting. I can't hold my eyes closed while lying down without moving my eye lids. 9 days later, the pain is so severe, I can't even lay down for a few seconds without my eyes feeling like they're in hell. Well, I've basically been living in hell for the past 9 days. I read that after a week, you start getting some type of vision loss. I don't have that, which makes me question what this really is. It's something serious. I have seen this " fog smoke" some people who have this decribe, but I always thought it was due to me staring at paper work for hours on end, and then going into the light. Can anyone let me know, or confirm that it could be this? I know it's impossible to know for sure, but atleast give me something to calm me down. Also, if at all possible, anything to help me sleep? I'm going to the doc early, and I need some type of sleep before I go in.
Has anyone had optic neuritis and not gotten MS?
A friend of mine suffered a severe case of unilateral optic neuritis about 2 years ago. She is black, female ofc, and she was 17 18 at the time.As far as I know she had no other neuro symptoms before or since. All tests at the time came back normal, she lives in the US so I imagine they did the full shebang of tests too. No lesions on MRI anyway, no family history of MS. When you look up optic neuritis you are bombarded with thousands upon thousands of stories of people who went on to get MS. The studies say that if your MRI is negative then you are anything from > 1 % risk to almost 50 % I have yet to find one story of someone who had ON and 5 years later didn't have MS.. but is this because all those people don't bother telling their story?Basically, my friend above, what do you tell her? What are her chances of getting MS? Are we talking " very unlikely" or are we talking " there's a real, significant chance" ? It's so unclear
History of optic neuritis please read?

Optic neuritis help?!?
i'm 14, and i've had an optic neuritis attack before. it was in august, very late july, and i practically lost all vision in my right eye. was put on steroids, IV and pill form.now..i think my left eye is starting to do the same thing. when i close my right eye and look out of my left, i can still see.. but i feel like something is.. wrong.and i sorta think my vision has gotten worse. my left eye is also my weak eye, but it feels much weaker now. i also have been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis and i've been on betaseron for almost a year now.if i do have optic neuritis, i will be sent back to STL children's hospital again.can someone tell me if it sounds like optic neuritis, or is it not serious enough to be that?thanks.
Inflamed Eye Arteries Caused by Optic Neuritis?
My wife woke up about two weeks ago with a fuzzy spot in the corner of one eye. The first doc said it looked like some kind of scar on her retina, but after a follow up they determined that some arteries in her retina are inflamed. They didn't diagnose it as optic neuritis, but at the same time haven't ruled MS onset out, and also haven't ruled out diabetes and some other things. She also had pounding headaches for a week that went away when they put her on the steroids. Anyone out there ever experienced anything like this? Sound like it could be ON? She is freaking herself out that it's MS but I still think it's something else, maybe arteritis, even though she is very young to have something like that. Just curious if anyone's had similar issues, or can describe what their ON was like. She will have a follow up Monday, but in the meantime is getting pretty worked up about it.Thanks for the response That's exactly what I was thinking, if it's inflamed arteries I don't see how it can be ON. The doc was definitely fairly wishy washy and didn't want to commit to a diagnosis yet, which was really frustrating. I'll update this after the follow ups next week.I should add, the spot in her has remained stagnant and painless since it showed up. The steroids haven't seemed to change it either, and it's just a portion of her eye, not the whole eye. All the more making me think it's inflammation related and not neurological.
Optic Neuritis and vision loss?
Just hoping someone out there can help. I'm 33yo male suffering from a form a optic neuritis. 3 months ago i started to develop a ghost like effect in my vision on my right eye. after a week it moved to the left eye and became worse. After 3 months i still have significant vision loss in my left eye. I have numerous blood test Sarcoid Wegner's included and MRI scans Head, chest and nasal . Have had Ultra sound for calcium build up on optic nerve. Everything came back veI am not sure of the terms but i know my ACE levels were high 71? and after 10days of 80mg prednisolone steroids if anything my vision is worse. Lebers results not back yet either? At the moment no one can identify whats the cause. Other than ghost effects impairing vision i have no other symptoms. If anyone has ever heard of this please email pmvprojects iinet.net.au Cheers
