Careers dealing with neurological disorders?
I don't want to go into psychological psychiatric counseling. What are some other options?

What type of career(s) specializes in neurological disorders?
Neurological disorders include dystonia, tourette and williams syndrome, right? What person works with patients with those type of disorders? Or what type of career is it? What is it called? . . . Not like doctors 'looking for cures' or scientists. Those who actually interact and work with the individuals with those types of 'problems'? Thank you.

What are some facts about neurological disorders?

For those with autoimmune or neurological disorders-how long did it take to get your diagnoses?
I have a rare genetic disorder known as atypical myotonia congenita, a potassium aggravated myotonia. I had severe symptoms for 13 years before diagnosis, but actively pursued an answer for about 8 years before I got one. The first 6 of those years were spent with doctors running the same standard blood tests and shrugging when they came back negative.A fabulous GP, open minded neurologist, and excellent university specialist all helped me get my eventual diagnosis but it took ages to find these doctors. I really think there's an epidemic of dismissive patient treatment. So how long did it take you? Did you have to put up with doctors who told you your problems were caused by anxiety or depression? Did you have to push for the right testing, or seek out other doctors?Share your stories, please. The long version of mine is here associatedcontent.com article 7750016 the rarest of the rare.html?cat 70Rare Disease Day is February 28.Thank you, and let's make some noise

Neurological disorder?
From the ages of 8 15 i an now 19 , I was severely beat by my father. Repeatedly hit with a thick leather belt for about 20 min at a time. Sometimes more than once a day. Sometimes I'd be woken up out of my sleep to be beat. I've been punched, kicked, and have had my face slammed to the floor resulting in chipping my front tooth. At around age 15 I began to notice a change in my speech. Almost like I had an accent. Kinda struggled to get words out. To this day I feel socially awkward, I have low self esteem, though I am pretty. I can't form relationships with anyone. I'm so detached from society. I almost feel retarded. I am not as smart as my piers. I am in college. I've been researching my personality type to see why I'm so different and I keep coming across neurological disorders. Could my brain have been damaged from all of the physical and emotional abuse I endured? I would also be forced to stay in my room for months at a time. Is there hope for me to be normal?

Neurological Disorder in 2 Year old/Children?
My son is 27 Months old. When he was around 1 1 2 Years old, my wife and I noticed him blinking for 4 or 5 seconds continuously. This happened 2 or 3 times. It then went away. We had an EEG Test done which came back negative. Now, recently he had been blinking, Twitching specifically in his right eye, right shoulder shrug, Head to shoulder , and the symptom that now come to the surface which is worrying us the most is this He raises his eyebrows here and there during which he rolls his eyes mainly to the side then up, then normal mode again. This is happening often along with the other symptoms. His growth and development up until this point has been normal. His birth was pretty normal. He responds completely during all of the symptoms. He also is aware. They have become more frequent and now because of that he rubs his eyes and covers them here and there. He also pauses looks up and has hit not hard himself with his index finger on his forehead , Indicating to me that he wants this stuff to stop . In other words hes aware of it happening and does not like it. We have no family history on seizure or any other type of neurological disorders. I don't know what it is. I would specifically really appreciate it if only people respond to this if they or their children have had similar symptoms as these and or a physicians opinion on this. Also Things that seem directly related to when or how frequent the symptoms occur Watching Television or browsing touch screen phone Fatigue, when waking up or ready to fall asleep Nervous tone from someone close bye as I was traveling with him in the car, I started getting upset with someone I was on the Phone with. The Symptoms had been minimal prior to my phone call then midway through the call when I started the nervous conversation, he started blinking, then showed other symptoms .
