Mononucleosis
mononucleosis Information
Does anyone else have chronic mononucleosis?
I do, and its not fun at all. Especaillly when no one understands what your going through..Chronic mono is the kind that keeps coming back on you when you get tired, stressed or run down..It's like getting a mild flu off and on all the time..Makes it so life doesn't seem worth living.
How long should I wait to ride a horse after being diagnosed with mononucleosis?
I'm a 17 year old female, I got diagnosed with mono on Tuesday the 3. I had to get fluids through IV because I was dehydrated, then got put on a steroid to take the swelling of my tonsils down. I feel a lot better now just very tired. I ride horses, and I know I have to wait 4 to 6 weeks to do any exercise or activities. I was wondering if I am going to have to wait longer than 6weeks to ride due to the increased risk of falling. Any information would be great thanks
Can you get mononucleosis as a child even if you haven't kissed?
Can you? What are the symptoms of mononucleosis in kids? I was just wondering.
How likely is mononucleosis? Only medically educated answers please.?
I am a 21yo white female, no past medical history other than a CBC with white cell diff a month ago for lymphadenopathy that came back normal. Now, for longer than one week, I have had new lymphadenopathy anterior and posterior cervical chains, post auriculars , fatigue, myalgias, and splenomegaly by percussion and palpation, definite splenic edge on inspiration , but NO exudative pharyngitis or obvious fever. Can infectious mononucleosis ever present with NO pharyngitis? No one I am close to has any obvious illness, but since EBV is a herpes virus I am guessing I picked it up from my boyfriend while he was asymptomatically shedding virus. How likely is EBV? Should I even bother going to my GP for a heterophile test, since a positive result will yield nothing more than " supportive care" of NSAIDS for the myalgias, which I can handle without analgesics?
Does mononucleosis often cause ear/sinus infections?

How to deal with mononucleosis? ?
I've had mono for a couple weeks now. Along with tonsillitis so I'm in great pain when my tonsils and adenoids swell up. I'm having them removed 2 days before my birthday on October 11th but the doctor says that won't cure my mono and that in some cases it could last for weeks or even months. I've been diagnosed with it before I think last month but this month it's a completely different experience. I'm tired ALL OF THE TIME and I feel like a bum because of it and I can't really focus in school but I don't think there's a cure for mono or else the doctor would've told me. But are there any tricks to cope with it and make it go away a lot sooner so I'm not always so tired? TweetyBird When I went to the ER, the doctor pulled up my records and saw that I had mono before and said it was pretty rare to get it again but it does happen. He said that tonsillitis is a lot worse when a person has mononucleosis. When I had it last time, my family doctor caught it at the end of it's course. I suffered the symptoms of fever, loss of appetite, chills and a sore throat. This time around the doctor's said that it was pretty bad like my white blood cells were up real high or something. Whatever mono is. and now I suffer from all of the above AND fatigue. I was just wondering and hoping that there was something to help me speed the recovery time up. I have insomnia too at night which I think makes it even worse. I'll be really tired then when I lay down, I'll be wide awake then when I eventually fall asleep, I wake up numerous times in the night then all day the next day I'm even more tired. Since you're a nurse, when do you think I'll know when I'm over mono and do

Why do you get mononucleosis from swapping saliva?
I took a bite out of my friend's donut that he already had bitten and now I'm worried that I might get mono. I don't get how you get how you get mono though.
Does marijuana help cure mononucleosis?
I've seen my stoner friends get the disease before, and they seem to recover fairly quickly. Now I have it and I'm taking weeks to feel the slightest bit better, and I also stopped smoking. I started up again last night and I noticed a fairly big difference in my state of health when I woke up this morning. Has any research been done on this?
How to get back in shape after mononucleosis?
I'm a cross country runner and unfortunately I came down with a bad case of mono. I had a fever for two weeks, and it was the worst I've ever felt being sick, but that's another story. I was sick for a week before I was officially diagnosed with mononucleosis by the doctor. Being no cure except time, another week went by. My symptoms subsided and another week went by with extreme tiredness and laziness. This is odd because I'm a very active person and I run about 6 miles a day. I lift weights then run, but the doctor said I have to wait 4 6 weeks before I can lift or run or do any strenuous activities or sports due to an enlarged spleen, which I could be hospitalized if I don't take it easy.Another week went by and I'm dying to run. It's been a month since I last ran, and I still have two more weeks before I get the OK from the doc. I know I can't run anywhere near as I used to, and I feel like I'm rotting away with no exercise. Ever since I got sick, my eating habits have gone horribly wrong and I know that's definitely not helping. The big questions is, how can i get back in shape after mononucleosis? Ease into it? Go all out once I get the go ahead? Make a schedule?
Would a hematoma screw up any results of a blood test? ie. Test for mononucleosis?
Heard it could but not from a credible source. Would appreciate any insight.
I have mononucleosis (mono), should I keep running?
I got mono like 1 2 weeks ago, and unfortunately, my high school soccer season starts in 3 weeks. My doctor said no soccer for 4 weeks, but we have conditioning, which is no contact, just running and working out. Should I continue to do that, or stop and get rest? I NEED to get better before soccer starts... Anything to help me get better faster, too?
Do I have mononucleosis?
Last month I was sick for a while with a fever, sore throat and swollen lymph nodes. I stopped track for a week and then jumped right back in when the fever subsided but I had increasingly little energy. I started out training with the fastest group before I got sick, then the medium group when I returned, and finally the slowest group. It was a little depressing. A month after, I was sick for almost a full week of a 103 fever and the same exact symptoms.MAIN POINT The Doctor told me there was " a hint of mono" in my blood.I am not sure what this means, or where to go from here. I felt fine last Sunday, went on a slow 3 mile run, and have felt fatigued this whole week. When can I begin running again?
