Marijuana smoking does cause inflammation and cell damage, and it has been associated with pre cancerous changes in lung tissue. Marijuana has been shown to cause immune system dysfunction, possibly predisposing individuals to cancer.The greatest health danger of marijuana is due to smoking, like cigarettes. While THC is a relatively safe drug, smoked marijuana is hazardous. Careful scientific analyses have identified at least 6,000 of the same chemicals in marijuana smoke as are present in tobacco. The main difference between the two is THC in marijuana and nicotine in tobacco. Otherwise, smoked marijuana and smoked tobacco are chemically very similar.One of the most potent carcinogens in tobacco smoke, benzopyrene, is present in even greater amounts in marijuana smoke. As marijuana smokers frequently inhale and hold the smoke in their lungs, this increases the amount of tar deposited in the respiratory system by about a factor of four. Research shows that approximately 20 % of regular pot smokers complain of chronic bronchitis, coughing and excess mucus.Why do people deny these things and claim there is " no evidence" ? Clearly, NO smoke belongs in the lungs at all ever. That's like putting oil in your car's gas tank and saying, " Oh, it won't hurt anything." What happens? Does that not happen within the body, as well? Why are people still so ignorant about this?

She did not say what stage it is. She is having chemo next week for 3 months. She had what the doctors told her was a lung infection but started to cough up blood, her lung collapsed and she had 1 1 2 litres of fluid removed. She is doing better but starts chemo next week. Anyone have a similiar story to share?She has never been a smoker, is 64 yrs old and otherwise is in relatively good health.

Yes. Of course it can. I have been smoking for years. I tried to quit several times but nothing worked. My grandmother died from smoking 4 months ago. I know it's hard for my relatives but it's hard for me too. I acted like a real woman and said goodbye to her when she died.
