Knee Replacement
knee replacement Information
Can't work after knee replacement operation. What can I do?
My sister lives in Pennsylvania. She needed a knee operation to have her knee replaced and was working as a nurse. After the knee operation, she hasn't been able to return to work after several months past the amount of time that it should have healed . Her doctor denied her disability saying she should have returned to work. He knows she can't be on her feet for longer than an hour but still won't sign for her to get disability. She's 63 years old and has medical insurance, including disability insurance through the hospital. We are shocked that the doctor won't allow her to get disability. She's gone to another doctor to try to find out why her knee hasn't healed the way it should have. They did tests and found that she has neuropathy in her legs, especially in the leg that had the knee replacement. She also has a condition that the blood in her legs doesn't flow the way it should which causes swelling in her legs. This may have contributed to her leg not healing the way it should have. This new doctor can't help her get disability because he didn't see her before her operation. It seems to me if you have an operation and then after the operation, you can't return to work, why shouldn't you be able to get disability? Isn't that what disability is for? What can she do? I'm not sure what lawyers might be able to help her that would only charge her if she is able to collect some kind of settlement. She contacted one well known lawyer she heard about from TV and they said they don t handle medical claims like hers.Any information that could help her will be greatly appreciated.

Total knee replacement problems ?
My dad had his surgery the 5th, he's having so much trouble bending it. At therapy they put him on a mahine that will bend his leg for him, it is very bad. He actually yells out when it gets to a certain point. They say they think scar tissue is starting to form that's why he can't bend past that point. I hear that when u get a knee replacement the day of your surgery they have to keep bending your knee so there's no scar tissue. They didn't do that for him, could that be the problem? I just wanna know what's wrong and what I can do to make it better for him.

What levels or markers need to be reached before one can have a knee replacement put back in?
My husband had a knee revision done in March and was released by the Dr. to have a back surgery. The back was done in May and he was sent to a rehab hospital and on the 9th day there I discovered his knee was swollen, had fever and red streaks going down the leg. It was determined he had MRSA and they started Vancomycin IV's every 12 hours. This went on from around May 20th until August 12th when he was discharged home. He also had to have the knee revision removed on June 3rd due to it being infected. On Oct 4th we saw the infectious disease doctor only to learn the level is 52 %, and we will probably have to wait until March of 2012 to get another knee put in, Is this in line with this type of disease or infection?

Knee replacement surgery problem?
My dad had a complete knee replacement and he's having trouble in therapy. He's gone 6 times to therapy his surgery was on the 5th he has so much trouble bending it and it's still pretty painful. He has been telling me that by now he should be able to bend it. He bends it to 70 and they want him to bend it to 100. He says that when he reaches a certain point, his skin feels so hard like it doesn't wanna bend. And he can't bend it anymore. I feel so bad seeing him like this. His knee has been messed up since he was a kid. And he finally got it replaced. He feels like something is definitely wrong. Any help? Thanks
Knee Replacement Surgery Recovery?
I had a total knee replacement last week, I also had my first back in October so I am not stranger to this. I am recovering excellent I am walking only with a can and that's only when needed. My fear with this surgery and my first was a blood clot forming in my leg s.The thought of this haunts me and I am unable to relax, seems the only time I am not stressing over it is when I am sleep. I looked up symptons of a blood clot in the legs however I have a lot those signs because of my surgery. I am on a blood thinner so does that mean a clot can not form? I am a nervous wreak over this. Has anyone had blood clot in their leg after a surgery? Thanks for any info
