When one is suspecting lung cancer, how often does hemoptysis occur?
Basically, I just want to know how often one spits up blood if they have lung cancer. Long story short, I've gone through most of the tests, and I don't have anything wrong with my esophagus that would cause me to spit up blood I have pretty bad GERD so that was what I figured it was at first . So I went to my physician and he had an x ray and a CT scan done which showed a 4mm nodule in my left lung. They said it was nothing. Unfortunately... ever since Sept. of last year I've been spitting up blood about once every month and a half on average. The last time I did it was a LOT of blood say, 15 teaspoons worth with what looked like bubbles in it. Thing is, I never vomited up blood, nor have I ever smoked I'm only 21 . So I just want to know how often one spits up blood if one has lung cancer I'm not asking for a diagnosis from anyone but I just want to know what others experiences have been. If this has happened to anyone & they had a diff. cancer that would help too.
Can a foriegn body {inserted in your post. chest] cause hemoptysis?

Primary lung tumors or metastatic lung tumors,which one is more frequent as a cause of hemoptysis?

I have a friend with pulmonary TB with hemoptysis and anemia and he was given lansoprazole. why is this ?
i know that lansoprazole is a proton pump inhibitor, an anti ulcer mostly concerned with the GI tract. but how does it relate to TB?

Or is coughing up blood just normal for people with the stoma? Or could it be linked to lung cancer. My dad smoked forever and had throat cancer last year and had a total larengectomy now for the past month or so he has been coughing up a lot of blood. sometimes they can't even control it. the doctor did a chest x ray and said the bottom left lobe of the lung has changed but they will do a CT scan next week. Does that mean cancer? I know we have to wait for the doctor of course, I just wanted to know if someone knew that bleeding like that is normal in total larengectomies and there is nothing to worry about??
Differential diagnosis on hemoptysis?
patient presents with acute onset hemoptysis. chronic cough of 4 months, sporadic and intermittently. chest x ray shows 2 focuses on the lower lobes of each lung. left rib is abnormal. chest examination shows no signs of breathlessness or hypoxia, no abnormal breath sounds. percussion is normal. superficial palpation of the abdomen for distension, hepatosplenomegaly is normal. no family history of blood diseases, cancer, autoimmune disease. no long term medication or past clinical history.my differential is tuberculosis or pneumonia. anything else that i cannot rule out based on this? blood results are not out yet.
What medications are used to treat hemoptysis?
Subpleural focal ground glass opacities,hemoptysis, subcentimeter mediastinal lymph nodes?
