The Fear of turning hyperthyroid(graves disease) to Hypothyroid? :/?
I was diagnosed with graves disease in 2005 im 22 almost 23 and I was getting treated with it for a good few years until sh t hit the fan and I didnt have time to deal with doctors who didnt listen to what I wanted NOT CONSTANT WEIGHT GAIN WITH PTU and then those blood tests to try and keep my levels 'regulated'. Although they were never regulated, what was the point of increasing and reducing my dosage all the time when they could never find a happy medium? So I went back and forth on the medication for a good few years until i completely stopped for a year. Back in the past my weight fluctuated of course but once I stopped I lost a considerable amount that I was happy with. It wasnt until few months ago I started feeling my other hyperthyroid symptoms come back and I procrastinated with dealing with doctors again. I know I should have a long time ago, its a serious condition and blah blah blah..health is first. Recently Ive started gaining weight, my diet hasnt changed and Im going to fast tomorrow for bunch of blood work. I went and saw the doc today and the first step is....blood work. The doctor said I might be turning Hypothyroid and I believe it because I red that if you leave your hyper active thyroid untreated it could spin into overdrive and stop producing the hormone that makes you hyper...not hypo. so now that means I might be hypothyroid...can anyone relate or share what they know.?my one concern is that now that Im hypo, do I have to dramatically change my diet & lifestyle in order to maintain a healthy weight..and be really strict about it? S Could i possibly fall back into hyper mode and lose my weight I gained? Or have a completely shot my metabolism and it will never be high again? or the same I dont wanna be like those bigger people who have a thyroid as their excuse to be fat...but one I dont wanna be fat and two i dont want people thinking I made up that excuse I really am into getting my health in check but I hate it when doctors dont listen to you and only care about certain levels on your thyroids and they dont pay attention to the hormones that are making your metabolism slow as well. I seriously believe that there is way to maintain your thyroid levels but also keep your weight to a happy medium as well. Anyone know more?I would appreciate NO comments like " Go see a doctor and get your health in line first..stop worrying about your weight more" because answers like that DONT HELP AT ALL Learned from past experience when i asked a question similar to thisthanks Thanks in advancedMay I also add the frustration back when I was in hypermode and being treated on PTU they never listened that I didnt want to keep on gaining more and more weight while I was being treated It sucks having thyroid problems ARRGG Thank you for your answers lydia and ashley gonna choose the best eventually, your answered made me feel better Just hoping for more feedback
Can anyone tell me anything about graves disease?
My sister has recently said that a doctor told her she had graves disease, but she can not find any real information about is. All she can find is that it somehow affects the organs, but not how it affects them. Can anyone give more info, so I can tell her?Info from people that have this, or personal contact with those that have it, would be preferred, but any info will be helpful.

I was diagnosed about 3yrs ago and up until recently I had bin able to manage the disease. I didn't regular treatments so hav bin using more natural remedies but because my metabolism is so fast I'm losing muscle mass and bone density so I'm finding it more and more difficult to get around. Even just a short walk and my legs can't cope so I just wondered wat my chances were of getting one if I apply? i didn't respond to regular treatments
My boyfriends mom has graves disease?
Long story short, my boyfriend's mom was just diagnosed with graves disease, He too shows many symptoms of the disease , is there anything I can do to help him out? Special foods they shouldn't eat, things they should eat? What are some signs that the disease is getting worse or better? any information would be appreciated, I'm trying to learn as much as I can about it so I can be of better help to him, understand his condition better. He has yet to have been diagnosed, but has been passed from his grandfather to his mother hereditarily, and as I said earlier, he shows 95 % of the symptoms rather severely.
How do you know if you have thyroid storm? ..graves disease ?
So I was diagnosed with graves disease and I had radioactive iodine treatment at the end of September..but my thyroid levels are exactly the same now..I am on 80mg of inderal daily and I am wondering if that can hide the symptoms of thyroid storm? How would I know? And if anyone has any experience with graves please share because I am worried about how the endocrinologist is going to treat this now ..I have an appointment dec.2 are there any specific things I should ask? Thank u ..I am an otherwise healthy 22 y.o. girl.
I have graves disease and i am going to get radiation iodine therapy soon when can i get pregnant?

Hyperactive thyroid/graves disease eye problems?
So I have been researching a lot about Grave's Disease and such because I have been diagnosed and will undergo surgery next month. But I have read that there are certain eye diseases that go along with Grave's Disease. Lately I have noticed a sensitivity to light with my eyes.... Do you think its just psychological? I can see perfectly fine... but I guess I'm just freaked out about all this thyroid problem stuff.

Graves disease? Hyperthyroid...WEIGHT GAIN!?
So after many months of procrastinating of going to the doctor I finally went today I was scared I would have diabetes or that my hyperthyroidism would turn into hypothyroidism due to my sudden weight gain over the last few months and it wont stop I have not changed my diet or exercise I found out that my T3 and T4 levels are in normal range..which I have no clue what the normal range is and I was hoping someone would know? Because if they are 'normal' according to my doctor then that means my metabolism levels t4 should be fine too...... but why am I gaining so much weight? Why do I have to join the frustration train of seeing what my doc can do about my weight issue and all she says is im not on a healthy diet and I dont exercise enough. I should have mentioned that it hasnt changed but of course and what ive heard from similar patients is that they'll shrug it off and blame the weight gain on my own 'indulges' . What are some natural ways to cure/treat Graves Disease?
I'm a female, 23 years old and I have just bee diagnosed with graves disease. I really don't want to get the RAI or any of the other options until I try natural remedies first. Your advice is greatly appreciated
Anyone with Graves Disease ever have dialted pupils?
I was diagnosed with over active thyroid two years ago. And had graves disease. i had surgery in july of 2011 and they took out my full thyroid. I was fine for a few months but then just got worse. They are still trying to figure out the right dosage for my thyroid meds but anyways..my graves disease has been acting up a lot. You know, the normal syptoms of red dry eyes that bulge out..but also..sensitivity to light and i noticed today my pupils are dialted and my eyes feel really heavy. Anyone else with graves disease ever have dialted pupils?
