Is gout a symptom of another health issue?
I had what I thought was a back ache for about 36 hours. This morning I woke up with an attack of gout in my right big toe. Now I realize that the back ache was actually sore kidneys. What could be causing this?
Home remedies for gout?
Having dealt with gout attacks in the past,does anyone have any home remedies for treating gout. I have no money till this week end when I get my paycheck. Any suggestions ? PLEASE I'm hurting bad.

Affect the big toe, but not red, normal color, and cool to the touch. Gout it is bright red, and is very warm to the touch.

A while back I had an episode of pain and swelling in my big toe that I have determined to most likely be gout. All the symptoms match, although the cause is not clear. I do not fit the usual gout victim profile. It came on suddenly and for about 2.5 days my toe continued to swell and the motion in the joint diminished until I couldn't move it up or down even if I forced it. But a person has to walk, so I walked on it during that time. On the third day, the swelling went down, pain subsided, and motion returned. It was only afterwards that I traced the symptoms to gout and learned that the pain from gout is caused by uric acid crystals in the joint. There has been slight pain ever since, at least 6 months now, maybe more and even a little swelling if I walk a long distance.Did I injure my toe joint by walking on it? Did the friction of the crystals tear things up in there or something? Or is this still an ongoing attack of gout??Or does anyone have an alternate explanation?
