glaucoma Information
There is no history of glaucoma in my family but at age 50 an eye doctor said I have it.?
He said I needed to have surgery done as soon as possible otherwise I could loose my vision. Any ideas as to how I might have got it? Is it my diet, or what? I'm confused. I thought one must have a history of it in the family to have it.

I'm 24 and I went to a routine eye exam today. He said that my eye pressure was 25 and about 60 percent of my nerve in the back of my eyes were showing. Compared to 3 years ago when my eye pressure was about 15 and about 40 percent of my nerve showing, so I have to go back to be tested for glaucoma. Can anyone tell me what these tests are like and what the outlook of my eye sight would be if I do have glaucoma at such a young age, even if treated? Any information is appreciated. Oh and I don't have diabetes, but my grandpa that does have diabetes also has glaucoma
Can glaucoma effect your eyelid shape?
im thinking it may be glaucoma im not officially diagnosed until i see a doctor which is hopefull NOT MY CASE. but if so can it effect my eyelidsand will it be safe for me to get a surgery to even out my lids.

I got an eye exam today I found out I have congestion behind my eyes. The reason is because the pressure in my eyes are not drainging correctly. In one eye my pressure is 20 and other eye is 19. My mom has glaucoma and her mother had it too. I am going to see an eye specialist tomorrow. I am 24 years old too.

Hello. I am 17 years of age and have been having an eye pain so went to the optometrist to get my eyes checked. The air puff indicated slightly elevated eye pressure of 20,23, 24, 26 measure on 3 occasions. She said the optic nerve is healthy and didn't really do anything about my eye pressure. I have been worrying myself to death with glaucoma. Went on to see a private opthalmologist, he have checked my pressure with a blue light method he put drops in my eyes to numb them and said that pressures were 20 and 19. He also checked my eyes with slit lamp and some magnifying glass and said that eye were quite healthy. This was in december. After the visit, a week later I have got floaters, now they are with me. Now looking at the lights, I can see the bright circle around them and then fainter bigger circle. This is a halo I suppose. Waking up in the morning sometimes vision is blurry. Both doctors weren't concerned, while I have had no life for these 3 months. So, I heard there are usually no symptoms for high eye pressure and glaucoma, so I wonder if 3 months ago my optic nerve was ok, its already start to get damaged now by a pressure? And if it has, is 3 months enough to be experiencing those symptoms? Should I go back to the doctors to get everything checked again? Today even, when my boyfriend was taking a picture using his phone, he had that very very very bright camera light and I have seen a RAINBOW circle around it, he said to me that he had seen it too, but don't believe him. I will be going home soon to my country, where I guna visit an opthalmologist but its only guna be in 4 months, unfortunately,even if its glaucoma, will be it advanced by this stage? very scared, and im only 17

I might have glaucoma, what should I do?
Today, I just went to my regular eye doctor and they looked at my eyes and she says that I might have glaucoma. Although, she is not positive, because she says that the nerves at the back of my eyes are larger than normal. And she means 2 different things as I ask her further questions, she says that for some people have large nerves at the back of the eyes are normal, but for some people it isn't. So the isn't normal part, might be glaucoma. Then, she says that it doesn't mean that I have it, but she wants me to go to an eye specialist just to make sure. And before she told me that I might have glaucoma, she asked if I was familiar with it or if anyone in my family has glaucoma. So she told me to ask my mom and I did, but my mom didn't know anyone in her family that has glaucoma. But my mom doesn't speak English, so she of course might not be familiar with " glaucoma" . Although, she knows some French and in our language diseases usually has the same name as they do in English and she says that she no one in her family has glaucoma. And I think that before she told me that I might have glaucoma, she ask my mom if anyone in our family are blind and she says " no" . Than, after everything was done, she told me that I might have glaucoma. And then I translated to my mom that I might be blind, so I asked her a few times if anyone in her family is or are blind and she says no. Than, when we get into the car, I ask her again and she says " no" and than I ask maybe someone in dad's side might be blind and she says " no" again. So I am just so so so so so so so so so... scared that I might have glaucoma. Do you think that I should trust my mom of her saying that no one in both side of my family has been blind? Do you think that she says it so that I won't be scared? Because my mom says that she don't think that I have glaucoma, so don't be scared. And if I do have glaucoma, what should I do? I am crying as I am typing this out and has been crying a few times since I knew that I might have glaucoma. And I did some research that East Asians has higher chances of getting glaucoma than Caucasians and my great grandfather from my mom side was full Chinese. And I look 100 % East Asians. Although, I am mixed with Cambodian and Vietnamese. And I do think that I am more Cambodian and Vietnamese than Chinese, but somehow I look East Asian.I asked my eye doctor and she says that there is " no cure" for glaucoma to permanently disappear, so do you think that they will ever find a cure for glaucoma? I am only a 13 years old girl and I don't want to be blind in the next years or so. And none of my biological siblings same mom, same dad has glaucoma or are blind. And so far, none of my alive relatives as far as I know are blind.
