Throat or esophageal cancer?
I'm afraid for my dad. I know this is no substitute for a doctor obviously , but I wanted to see if anyone shared any similar experiences. My dad has been having difficultly swallowing food for about 8 months and a sore throat that comes and goes for 2 months. He hasn't lost a pound, but feels pretty lousy sometimes. He doesn't smoke or drink and has a healthy lifestyle. His thyroid came back perfectly normal and he had a scope that only showed a small hernia. Apparently, the scope only looked at his stomach. If there was something in his esophagus would they have seen it on the way down??How fast how severe would symptoms of throat or esophageal cancer occur? Is it possible that something else could explain it? I'm petrified and spent too much time googling..Thank you

Anyone had surgery to remove an esophageal cancer....in particular a THE procedure?
my father is scheduled to have part all of his esophagus removed due to cancer...There are two options..THETTEI think a THE is the way to go....please, anyone here had any of these....or know someone who has gone thru this journey..i think it is also known as the MIE minimally invasive esophageaectomy sorry for the spelling

How can you make someone with esophageal cancer feel better?
My great grandpa was diagnosed with it a couple of months ago and he's been in so much pain. We live in Australia now and they're in Chicago and it sucks because he can't really talk very well. We used to Skype a lot. I don't get to see him that much. I want to send him a care package. I have no clue what to put it in it. He's 88. He used to like golf but obviously doesn't play now. I don't really know what else he would like. He can't have candy or anything like that now. Does anyone have suggestions?Gangsta I really wish your mom hadn't crapped you out into this world.

Is it possible to have esophageal cancer at age 14?
Well there is this large lump right next to my uvula and there are no actual lumps down my esophagus I think. My old doctor had told me at age 9 if it gets any bigger I should have it removed. I'm not quite sure if it got bigger though... But my new doctor says it should be fine as long as it doesn't hurt. But its kinda difficult to swallow sometimes and I constantly choke on things. Could there be more little lumps down my throat without realizing it?Thank you so far but I would prefer an actual answer not links to another website.

1.5 year esophageal cancer. Kemo & radiation. Previous esophagus & brain tumors removed. How long to live?
Hello,My father is 54 years old and has esophageal cancer. About a year and a half ago he was diagnosed, and he had a large tumor in his esophagus. Before this diagnosis my dad had no previous health problems. The tumor was removed and he went through kemo therapy and radiation. He lost a lot of weight and became very week. About 6 months ago they found a large tumor in his brain, which was removed and he was put back on radiation but not Kemo. He is now off of radiation, and is determined terminal. What is the estimate of how long to live? He seems very weak but as a daughter I want to have a realistic estimate.

My FIL has both primary lung AND esophageal cancer with mets. (stage 4 both) How much time does he have left?
It has mets to the adrenals, bones, lymph nodes in chest and pelvis and pancreas. He was diagnosed June of this year. Has had 30 weight loss, is sleeping most of the time and has started to fall and get confused. I suspect it is in his brain now, but it could be the chemo or pain meds. He is on palliative chemo and radiation. I know he is dying, but is he ACTIVELY dying? Am trying to get his grandkids home to see him but don't know what to tell them on a time frame. What can I do to best help them?

I am So Freakin worried , I am a esophageal cancer survivor of 3 years?
and the Doctor said that usually after 2 years Esophageal doesn't return , I feel great I have PTSD and Panic disorder due to bothed pathology during the first operation which led to a second unneeded one , I get scans done every 6 months as per Doctors orders , lately this past week I have very little appetite and have lost maybe 5 or 6 pounds , over the past month or 2 , nothing major but just enough to worry me is the cancer back....I might mention that my sense of taste seems to be a bit screwy , smoky taste of milk , licorice taste , don't know what to think except think the cancer is back and I know I will feel like this until I talk to my psychiatrist on Friday , my therapist on Thursday or maybe even my next scan....please , any words of encoureagement , anyone experience this....my Docs told me to expect some weight loss over a long period of time as my stomach is smaller due to the operation but only noticing the lack of appetite lately

Could this be esophageal cancer?
So I'm 14, and I've had acid reflux since november..and its really bothered me..I try to chance my eating habits but sometimmes I still get acid..sometimes even when I don't even eat anything I get acid I drink a lot of apple juice so I think that's a reason..but I've recentely just been drinking water..so recentely I've felt like I have a lump near my adams apple when I swallow..kinda like mucus or something..and sometimes its really annoying to swallow and sometimes its easy but the lump of flem or whatever is still there..I do have a runny nose so does that have something to do with it? I hear its a symptom of esophageal cancer..and I'm really freaking out cuz I hear its really hard to cure and I'm reaally really scared to die..because I'm only 14 and I have so much to live for..I already went to the doctor in january and he gave me these anti acid things..but those only take the acid away for a day and then it comes back the next time..I wanna have my parents make me an appointement again cuz I'm really really worried...I don't wanna die..my mom thinks its nothing but I'm really freaking out..please heelp mee..

What is the average length of time that a feeding tube is used after a person has the esophageal cancer remove?

My sister has esophageal cancer.... months left approx?
Yes, you read that right.Unfortunately I'm rather numb to the topic of cancer as it's taken my dad, all my grandparents and almost took my mom, but she beat it.My sister, 44 years old, has been diagnosed with esophageal cancer. The doctor has said it has spread to the abdominal wall and to some lymph nodes. She's doing radiation and chemo, but i'm less than optimistic.... i know this type of cancer shows in a late stage. Can anyone give me a window? I'm 29 and will have to move home to become guardian of her 5 children, all of whom i love dearly.God Bless and thanks for any info.

When is esophageal cancer awareness month?

I Love Yerba Mate, but I've heard it's linked to esophageal cancer Is this true? Please say it ain't so :(?
I switched from coffee to Mate a few years ago but then switched back, lately I've been drinking mate again but I'm a singer and really don't want to risk getting esophageal cancer, I love the taste of mate way more then green tea, I hope this isn't true.

Esophageal Cancer in a 21 year old?
I'm a 21 year old female. I have had a hiatal hernia for at least a year and a half, probably about 3 years in total. It was a result of having an alcohol dependency at a young age and doing a lot of damage from retching. Since I was diagnosed I had not been able to take proper care because the medications I had tried made me extremely ill and gave me nausea nexium, other brands from the states . I also did not take care of myself in the sense of healthy eating, limiting my drinking, and smoking.. especially in the past 4 months because I had went through something tramatic and went back to drinking, which resulted in over drinking and excessive vomiting. About a 2 weeks ago I got a stomach bug for 5 days and I've felt extremely soar ever since. I've also had swelling on my rib cage for at least a year that seems to have gotten bigger, and now the swelling and pain has spread to my back, between my shoulder blades, under both breasts, and sometimes in the lower abdomen. I also puke little very little bits of blood sometimes bright red so I know its most likely a broken blood vessel in my esophagus when I puke. With all that being said, I'm extremely worried now that I could have esophageal cancer. I know it isn't common in young females but I don't know if my extremely damaging way of living has caused it to happen. I'm just wondering if anyone knows if these are relevant symptoms and if I should worry too much. I have a doctors appointment in a week so I will voice my concerns there as well... I just don't know if I should try to go to the hospital sooner if there are any strong signs of an issue. I'm asking for just help and hopefully no one lecturing me for my life choices. I know I've been stupid with my health and I've been trying hard for many years of my life to get a hold of it Thank you.
