My dad was diagnosed with emphysema we he was 30 and he is 50 now and still smoking. How long does he have?
My grandfather is dying of it right now.He smokes about 2 packs a day give or take..
I have emphysema and c.o.p.d. and now a tumor in my throat, what are the chances its cancer.?
i am really scared cause i smoked for 29 years and was diagnosed with c.o.p.d. and emphysema 3 years ago and am already in the oxygen evaluation stage with the pulmonologist and they found an obstruction in my throat and could not finish the spirometry or peak and low test or the chamber test and am really afraid it could be cancer. what are the chances of it being cancer.

Lifespan smoking with emphysema?
Hello, my mother was recently diagnosed with emphysema, I'm not sure on this, so i'm asking.. She has been smoking for years. Healthy but is now diagnosed with this disease, how long can she live smoking around 4 5 packs a week? I'm asking because if she passes, I'll be a ward of the state, she was diagnosed with it around early December, late november. Please comment asap. Thanks Thank you all for your answers. Im really worried and im gonna ask her if she will get some medication. Theres not a day where i dont think " How much longer will i have her and what will i do without her"
What are the symptoms of emphysema?
My Grandmother has emphysema, PCOD, Diabetic, Osteoporosis and is now in the hospital with pneumonia and CHF?
So with all that said, I live in another state than she, and the family thats there, I'm not in much contact with, so I'm wondering what could happen next, since I cannot be there and will be left out of the loop until she either goes home, or dies. CPOD, and she is in her late 70's

My husband has been having trouble breathing for a while and has just been diagnosed with copd empysema and chronic bronchitis he was suposed to have quit smoking 4 months ago but he hasnt of course he told the doctors he has and has even went outside and smoke while in the hospital, he is coming home from the hospital soon and must do something about his smoking, so how can i help? he is 40years old and I feel I cant just take a cigarette from him like he is a child and i dont know what to do, im very concerned. we spent thanksgiving in the hospital and i'd just rather not spend christmas in there, please help?

My father has smoked for 30 some years, he was diagnoses with Emphysema that I am just not finding out about a few years back. He can't won't stop smoking but is slacking back on it. I worry about if this is a disease that can kill him. I only worry because of the way he talks. He says things like, " Even if Im dead I will make sure you get you a car, you need one to drive to college." and so forth. Also, my brother is out of control and puts a lot of stress upon my dad. I'm not sure if its healthy for him. Can my dad die of emphysema and all of this stress?
