How serious is a diagnosis of dysphagia?
My sister has been having some trouble swallowing lately... It's somewhat painful and she temporarily has a little lump where the food is going down. Her doctor says it's probably dysphagia. ? Oh and yes she's having an endoscopy in a couple of weeks. I'm just rather freaked out because I did a quick search and the word " cancer" came up.Thank you Rory. That's a relief. I should add that it's not a consistent thing. It happens sometimes. I should also add that she has always eaten VERY quickly if that means anything.Just spoke to my sister. She said it started after she ate a piece of bread and she thinks she scratched the inside of her throat. Now she feels as if there's " something there" . She didn't have that before.
What are my options with dysphagia ?
My mom will receive a g tube . Her ability to swallow is almost gone. She chokes on everything , thickened water even . I know the g tube will eliminate the feeding and drinking . Will she continue to choke and aspirate on her own spittle mucus into her lungs ? Or does it kind of IMPROVE because it is not used as much ?

For nine months now, I have GERD and dysphagia on off. Sometimes minor and sometimes really bad. But recently, like two days ago, I ate a strawberry shortcake with Ensure Nutrition Shake at 12 30 AM, then went to bed 20 mins later. Then I work up the next day at 1 00 PM, cuz I sleep late on weekends. After waking up, I ate leftover potato stew for breakfast. Although, when I tried to swallow it, I could not, at all. Even a sip of water. The day before I ate the potato stew very easily. Do you think it was from eating late at night and GERD? Please help.

4 months difficult swallowing........ had a barium swallow that detected nothing except a possible hiatal hernia I also have hypothyroid. but its normalized with synthroid now....but still sometimes I cant even swallow my own spit normally it gets stuck lost my gag reflex too...one day it just vanished.

Asthma inhaler for dysphagia?
I recently discovered I have a form of a swallowing problem referred to as eosinophilic esophagitis, and my doctor prescribed the steroid, flovent an inahler that treats asthma he requires that i swallow 4 puffs, twice a day. knowing that this is somewhat of a high dosage of steroid, i was curious to know if i could suffer from any unfortunate side effects that a lot of performance enhancing steroids give out?

If you have cervical dysphagia caused by HPV can you have warts?
My girlfriend told me that she had HPV early in the relationship before we had sex. She said that she went to the gyno for an exam to get birth control and she tested positive for HPV and abnormal cells on cervix. The doctor froze the cells off, this was back in 2006, she has had normal pap smears ever since.Before we started having sex she got a STD tested and had the gyno test for everything. When had been having sex for about 6 months and one day I noticed I had about 2 small finger like extension things under the head of my penis, they were painless.I told her about it and she swears that the gyno never said she had warts, just the dysphagia on the cervix. My girlfriend let me check her to see, I didn't see anything down there, she just went to the gyno a few weeks before so surely that would have seen anything if she had warts. I tore the bumps off, and soon they disapeared, another came back and I tore that one off and now its been 7 months and nothing else has shown up. My question is my girlfriend being honest with me or do you think she had warts and didn't tell me.She has had one guy without a condom and I have had 3 girls without a condom.

I'm pretty sure I have oral dysphagia. It's a side effect of my medication and I match a lot of the symptoms for it. I was wondering if the doctor would tell me to do e stim. Does it work? Also can anybody tell me if the meds for it help a lot or just a little? I'm concerned because I want to eat normally. Thank you.
