My school said I had dyslexia when I was a little kid, but I'm really good at English and really bad at Maths?
I'm 21 now but I remember even as a little kid I really enjoyed reading, writing, spelling and all round creativity through the art literature. I was even always top of my class at English all the way through school right up to even doing key skills at college. My only weakness is that my hand writing has never been that neat.I thought this was strange that my first school when I was around 6 7 diagnosed me with dyslexia because I thought dyslexics where really bad at reading and writing but really good at numeracy and numbers. My mate Andy at college and my Step Dad who also have dyslexia are really really bad at reading and writing but their numeracy and number skills are brilliant. My Maths skills are f cking terrible I mean basically none existent. I just can't process numbers, time, distance etc my brain just can't calculate or measure anything to do with numbers. The only thing I can just about get by on is counting small amounts of money. I also just about learnt to tell the time well into my teens I just can't process the numbers very well on the cloak. I just have no sense of time or distance or anything mathematical. Am I dyslexic or something else?

Can you have inattentive adhd and dyslexia?
I have every single symptom of inattentive adhd and i think i have a mild dose of dyslexia. I think my mom has dyslexia and i think my dad has hyper or combined adhd. Seems like i was doomed for these disorders but hey you have to deal with it. My mom is very bright but mixes up her numbers and letters and has trouble comprehending when reading. My dad is very talented and creative, but he has problems with concentrating on one task, He goes to job to job. My teacher in 1st grade always said i was out of space. I had trouble reading and writing, but i was good at math. I was kept back in 1st grade. I was a confident little boy before 1st grade but my confidence was slowly being crushed by my disability, Now i am 18 year old senior who is barley about to graduate. I have problems with memory, comprehension, attention, spelling, writing, social interactions, a little vision problem. I now have some social anxiety and never kissed a girl since i was 4 Lol to be honest i was a cocky lil boy i had 3 4 girlfriends . Did i mention my parents got divorced when i was 5 too. Yeaaaaaaa so that's me sorry for the mass information i just want you to understand who i am. Btw i don't read letters backwards or numbers, but i almost have to always re read something. Can these two disorders co exist? If so do you guys know treatments such as medicine or therapy? I'm going to see a psephologist soon but i have PI ADHD to lazy to do it lol. Sorry for the long post i know i would be discouraged to read all of it but if you answered Thanks

How long does identifying dyslexia take?
I'm 15 years old and have just started doing some of my GCSE units. In year 8 we had to do a test to see if there were any signs of dyslexia. I scored very low and a letter was sent home, but because i get 90 % or above on most exams we ignored it. However now i find myself reading questions wrong, not finishing exams, slow writing, slow reading and reading a piece of text and not having a clue what it is about. In my recent exams i've scored 50 % or 40 % in result of not reading questions properly or not finishing the exam, I have my RE GCSE in 2weeks and i don't want dyslexia to affect it as i have to complete 4 or more essays in 2 hours. How long will it take to identify dyslexia? thank you in advance for any answers

Have I got dyslexia? please help!?
I have trouble reading because it looks like a blur to me sometimes.I'm not very good with spelling simple words, because i see the word in my head before I write it, then it goes and i can't spell it for the rest of that time.my handwriting is really bad and i can't help it.i get REALLY bad headaches and i feel sick most of the time.Nobody knows about this because i'm too scared of what they would say, only my little sister knows she is 12 and she dosn't know anything about it. please help

What can I do if I think I have adult dyslexia?
I never considered it before, I only thought that I was dumb. I've taken 8 years of Spanish & still don't speak it and have always failed Algebra and never took any higher math. I often read words with the first letter switched, such as drown bogs for brown dogs. I also most times have trouble putting my thoughts into words and speak with pauses or say things grammatically incorrect. I never have trouble with spelling or writing however. I also stress to the max when having to read any type of recipe, directions, manuals or instructions and must read them instructions several times in order to gain an understanding. I am 35 by now and a problem was never detected during childhood because I was always an overachiever, trying 3x as hard as everyone else only to blend in, but now that I am adult I can say, " I think I have a problem." Do I?? And what can I do about it and where can I find other adults to talk to that have dyslexia? I am becoming frustrated as it seems that most sites are for and about childhood dyslexia. thanks

What is it like with severe dyslexia?
Hey, I am currently writing a short story about a 14 year old teenage girl with severe dyslexia. Can someone who has experienced someone with dyslexia or is a " smarty" on this subject or even if you do have dyslexia i probably sound dumb there...er? you probably dont. tell me what its like? Can people with dyslexia ever read? Can they just slow down and spell out the words? What is like everyday like if youre at a restraunt or a theater or at school? Could you read the menus at a restraunt? Sorry if this is weird, i just need someone to tell me what people with dyslexia can manage to do? I need to know if they can figure out some words or if all of the words are just bunches of random shapes. Another question, when a person with dyslexia is reading what happens? Ive heard that the words flip around backwards, they move into different areas, change colors, start to like shake or something like that , or sometimes the letter just turns into something else. PLease help me. ANd please dont just leave a defintion, i already know what it is.

Please help me with my dyslexia!?
I just found out I have it, and I know almost nothing about it, what can help it and how to cope with it

I think I might be have dyslexia, ADHD, or ADD?
I'm 18, and I'm very fidgety. I also don't know how to spell very well. When I'm at my grandparents house all I ever do is ride my bike and read or listen to movies. When I'm at my house I'm either reading, on the internet, watching TV, or listening to music while walking in a circle around my living room. Also, I'm very random, stuff just pops in my head. Like for example, me and my sister were dancing and I stopped the whole think just to ask her what her favorite color was. Also, if I sit in one place to long i get a wierd feeling in my legs and i have to get up and move around. I also can sit far from the TV because I will get the same feeling in my legs, but it doesn't have anything to do with my eyes cause i have 20 20 vision. And today in math we had a test and I wrote 18 instead of 81. I also mess up words completly, I read interupted and said said. Any help would be nice. I've talked to my dad about it but he doesn't think anything of it. My friends think I'm dyslexic because i can write completly back words to where if you turn it over and read the back you can read it perfectly.

I have a question about adult dyslexia..?
Okay, I've tried to wikipedia this, but sometimes the right kind of info isn't in there. I can read in my head very well, but when it comes to reading out loud I often trip over my words and confuse myself. I do believe if I were to practice reading out loud I would eventually get better. But that's not what I'm concerned about. I can be having a very normal conversation and some how I will mix up the beginning letters or sounds in a sentence. For example me and my boyfriend were watching tv and we were laughing at a part and I said " I love how he's imitating the gud blushing out" Instead of saying the " blood gushing out" I had no idea that I said that, until my boyfriend had to correct me. I do this on a regular basis. Sometimes I'll catch myself, other times I won't notice until someone laughs at me for it. Is that considered to be dyslexic? Or is it something else entirely? I'm not too concerned with it, its just kind of awkward in a professional situation.Edit Thank you for you answer, I don't think it quite applies to me, because I'm a very healthy 20 year old.. No strokes or brain damage. But I think it is something I will bring up with my doctor and maybe he will know more about it, or will be able to refer me to a specialist who can properly diagnose this. Like I said before, I'm not concerned about it. I can have a perfectly normal conversation, but often times words get jumbled in my head and on paper.. And sometimes I have difficulty saying them out loud. I usually thought it had to do with my head getting ahead of my mouth.

Maybe I have dyslexia...? Or something similar? HELP?
Well, I'm fine at math, but when I read, I often mistake words and it takes me a LONG time. People often ask if I have it even teachers , Im a straight a student so... Do you think I have it? Or something else? Is there another reading disorder it could be? I'm ADHD, social anxiety disorder, and aspergers syndrome, of that helps....

Am i dyslexic? what are the main symptoms of dyslexia?
I enjoy reading but often mix up word order or words from different lines in long paragraphs. When i write I often confuse my d's and b's but usually notice this almost straight away. Sometimes with longer words I will write the consonants in the wrong order but usually realise this straight away too. I find it hard to concentrate for a long time and try to avoid long worded exam questions. I have done online yes no checklists but some of my answers were inbetween or only sometimes and some were unclear to me. I've only recently started to worry about it as previously it did not seem to effect me but now I am 16 and although it doesn't seem to be affecting my education etc. it has started to worry me

Can lies be blamed on dyslexia?
This girl at uni is an absolute fucking liar. Literally every story she tells is a lie, and tells different variations of stories to different people. I have never heard a story come out of this girl's mouth that wasn't either blatantly a lie, or something that someone else got a different version of. Tonight she got caught in a lie from a house mate about something she said, and blamed her dyslexia for the lie, saying " she couldn't be held responsible for what stories she told to different people. Is this even possible? Can you blame dyslexia for the fact that you are a pathological liar?

What do you do if you think you have dyslexia and dyscalcuia?
I think I have dyslexia and dyscalcuia. What do I do ?

Am I developing dyslexia?
Ok, so yesterday in class were studying for a test, since I was really tired I closed my eyes for a few minutes. When I opened my eyes the letters were all mixed up and I couldn't read them I blinked a couple of times then the writing returned to normal. Am I developing dyslexia or does it have to do with me wearing very strong perscription glasses have anything to do with that? Also I've been wearing glasses all my life and that's the first time something like that happened to me.
