What is Juvenile dermatomyositis ?
Juvenile dermatomyositis?
About 6 months ago, my daughter had been complaining of her knees hurting when she would run or go up or down stairs. She is 13. I truly thought this was not a big deal, but soon after a strange rash appeared on one of her arms. I made an appointment with her doctor and before the appointment I looked on webmd which gave a few possibilities that I felt I needed to mention to her doctor. Juvenile dermatomyositis was one of them. The doctor quickly dismissed my question stating that any internet search was not worth my time or hers. She was diagnosed with shingles for the rash, and vague syndrome for the knees. Backing up a couple years....when she was 7, I had removed two different tiny lumps which looked like rocks from her face and forehead. Then most recently, one from her back and one from the top of her scalp. I found out that these " calcium deposits" if thats what they are, are also symptoms of this disease in question. So I would like to hear from someone who has advice...I cannot change doctors until January because of my insurance, do you know of anyone with this disease? Or does anyone have any advice on how to get my daugther evalutated outside of her doctor's office? I discovered that the rash, the sore knees and the calcium deposits are all symptoms of Juvenile dermatomyositis. Thanks for any help. I hope to hear serious answers.
Can i used any skin product after dermatomyositis?
Can I be having a dermatomyositis relapse or can it be something else?
When I was 9, I was diagnosed with dermatomyositis polymyositis. At it's worst stage, I couldn't get up from a squatting position, couldn't run, couldn't go up stairs, needed help climbing into the bathtub, in doing my hair and walking was becoming very difficult. My body responded very well to the treatment prednisone , and within 2 years I was 90 % back to normal. In the 14 years since then, my muscles still got tired easy but now it seems like I have some very sudden symptoms. My forearms hurt like a burning pain constantly all day They just feel exhausted and it's very frustrating. My leg muscles seem to be tiring and hurting more than usual too. Could it be my condition making a comeback? Or something else like fibromyalgia? If I go to the docs will I need another biopsy to confirm the relapse of the disease?
What are the chances of a baby inheriting juvenile dermatomyositis!?
I am now 21 and thinking about starting a family. I was diagnosed with JDMS when I was 7 and had it on and off until I was about 18. JDMS is normally inherited so I was looking for feedback on the chances of my children inheriting the disease from me.

Concerned about this legion on my knuckle? Possibly dermatomyositis?
I have had this.. thing on my hand for two and a half years now. Previously I thought it was just from picking at it when I was younger. I used to tell people it was a scar from a cheer stunt that never went away. I got curious on the internet earlier and found a condition called dermatomyositis. But mine is only on my right middle knuckle, while the images of this condition are multiple legions. Anyone who knows what they are talking about want to give me any advice?? Anything is appreciated. Thanks Here is a picture.. Also, please ignore the twitter account, it is my sisters. https twitter.com AR loves JDB status 184482882201460736 photo 1
Is Cellcept drug prescribed to treat dermatomyositis?

Dermatomyositis and weed?
I've recently just started going to the dermatologist for a rash around my knuckles and fingers. I've explained to them that I have pain when lifting heavy things and in my knees just by stretching, circulation is poor in my hands. I took a blood test and it said I had low white blood cells. Anyway they're still not sure what it is, wanting to do more tests but the dermatologist told me it could be dermatomyositis. Now my question is, can smoking weed affect this in a negative way? I've never had anything like this happen to me before and I've been smoking for a year. But I've stopped awhile back because I'm worried. And also, does dermatomyositis go away after being treated if there is a cure?
Treatment for Dermatomyositis?
Hello I'm 20 years old in college and I'm getting my muscle biopsy this tuesday. I went through all the tests and everything points to dermatomyositis. My rashes, purple discoloration around eyes, purplish red knuckles, elbows, knees. A slight butterfly rash that I constantly control. I can't lift my arms more than 5 seconds and can hardly walk.My question is this.... I know my doctor is going to try to put me on prednisone but I don't want to get fat and a moon face. I'm 20 years old I'm really good looking, good jaw line, I love the way I look and I don't want any of that. I've heard you can take methotrexate but he told me prednisone first. What can I do? Thank uI've also heard you can take a low dose of prednisone and methotrexate at the same time to control the side effects of prednisone and still help just as good.
