What are the early signs of delirium tremens?
I have been drinking heavily for the past couple weeks until recently, and lately I have been experiencing some heart palpitation irregular heartbeat and especially lots of dizziness and confusion. So I was wondering if those could be early signs of delirium tremens, and if so what should I do about it?
My hands started shivering before i started drinking,do i have delirium tremens?
Can withdrawal from heroin by going "Cold Turkey" cause death via delirium tremens?
Information on whether delirium tremens can be caused by heroin withdrawal would be greatly appreciated, it is needed for a piece of work I plan on starting in the near by future on various drug addicts.Thank you for your time.

Would just like to know, honestly, how common is delirium tremens? Who is actually at risk of developing this severe withdrawl from alcohol?Yes i know this. But i guess what i am trying to ask is how much and how regulary does one have to consume alcohol for this to possibly develop?
Has anyone experienced delirium tremens?
I have a friend that is a hardcore alcoholic, and was talking to me about the DT's delirium tremens . She said that during alcohol withdrawels she hallucinates, and hears things that aren't there. She doesn't do drugs, and this has been proven due to her last hospital stay for alcohol detox.Could someone experienced in this, or someone that has witnessed this tell me about your experience?
What happens to a person suffering through alcoholic delirium tremens?
What do they see? How do they feel? What do they think? How do they act? How long will it last? Are they the same when it clears? Is it fun? scary? like a new high? I want to know everything.

Hello,My dad started to drink alcohol after months of not drinking and then he suddenly stopped. He had hallucinations he talked to people who didn't exist, he " saw" situations which weren't real, he seemed he was in two people . He also had shaking hands. It lasted about a few days. He had never had mental problems.It was delirum tremens or maybe attack of any mental ill?Should I worry about his mental health? Can it have influence on his mental health? Should I worry if right now he doesn't drink and not going to?

I been a heavy drinker for 2 1 2 years now ,i stopped for 2 days and then had an18 pack of beer again,then stopped for another 2 day and then had a 12pack and now its been 3 days and planning to quit for good, but i have vivid wierd dreams and night sweats ,during the day time im confused with nausea itchy sweaty hands and whats worse i see shadow moving and i get the feeling of insects crawling up my skin, shivers etc.. i hope is not DT
I have a question about Delirium Tremens...?
My husband was admitted to the hospital for a back injury. He was recovering, until he started to go through serious withdrawal symptoms. He is a heavy drinker, usually having 4 6 vodka tonics per night, and he has been drinking this way for over 15 years. The doctor said " It's a catch 22 We aren't going to force anyone to stop drinking, however we can't give them alchohol either." I understand that, but I know that he didn't want to quit, and Delirium Tremens is the only thing keeping him in the hospital now. They are giving him 2 mg doses of ativan, but he is still a complete mess. My question is If I gave him alchohol, would that stop the delirium tremens? Also, would it have any adverse affects with the Ativan?HE DOES NOT WANT TO BE TREATED FOR ALCHOHOLISM If you would read my post in it's entirety you would know that he doesn't want to be rehabilitated. We did not go to the hospital seeking treatment for alchoholism. He fell down an iced over set of stairs at 6 00 am. He does not drink during the day, ever. He makes far to much money to jeapordize his career.
Delirium tremens (Help needed!)?
Hello,Three months ago my dad had delirium tremens, it lasted about a few days about two days of light delirium and one day of very heavy delirium . After one day of heavy stage, it's gone. Is it possible that it has gone itself? He went to the hospital, he get calming pills and later he wasn't cured, because delirium finished. Can there be any results of delirium tremens, if he wasn't cured? Did he need to be cured? Can delirium tremens have influence on mental health?Thanks in advance

He drinks resposibly He never drinks and drives, he never drinks around his kids, he never drinks during the day at work. This detox is an unwanted treatment. When he gets home, the first thing he's going to do is have a drink.
How long does it take for Delirium Tremens to kick in?
I was at a friends birthday party the other day, it was a whole weekend long thing, and I drank more than I've ever drunk in my life. Over the two days I had at least 10 bottles of wine to myself and a huuuuge amount of cocktails, as well as rum and beer etc. I really normally don't drink like that. So the party ended monday night and I went to sleep, expecting a hangover the next day.But I woke up at 2am, and felt... weird. Like REALLY weird. I can't describe it. Then I started to feel anxious. I'm prone to panic attacks occasionally and I began to get the WORST panic attack i've ever had, i felt like I was being pushed out of my body. My heart was pounding so hard I was beating my chest to make it stop. I was convinced my heart was going to stop even though I'm quite used to panic attacks.Eventually it wore off and I turned the light off and THEN i started seeing things. Really weird things. Things floating around in the dark, really colourful. When I turned the light on I kept seeing objects out the corner of my eye that I was convinced were cats and dogs, and they were running at me menacingly, but when I looked at them they became objects again, but then there'd be other ones, my head was zipping back and forward like crazy. I also kept thinking someone was tapping me on the shoulder or tickling my side, but i was alone.I stayed up all night really really terrified, when i tried to stand up I was so disorientated I would have to lie down in a ball for minutes at a time before i could walk againThe anxiety lasted until about 10 am, at which point i went home my friends were all completely dead to the world but for a few days afterwards I kept seeing things. Peoples faces changing out the corner of my eye, snakes on the ceiling, and weird flashes of lights. But it was without anxiety so I just thought it was weird.Basically, i had NO idea what had happened. I'd thought i'd got too drunk and took a drug or something accidentally, but my friends dont do drugs.Then one of my friends said it sounded like delirium tremens, which i had NEVER heard of before, i had NO idea alcohol would do this, but when I read about them, they said they only happen after years and years of alcohol dependance. That certainly isn't me. I drink once every few weeks at most, though admittedly not as hard as at that party.So... does anyone know anything? Is it possible thats what it was? Or could it have been something else? No one i know has ever had that happen before. It TERRIFIED me, i never want it to happen again, so i will NEVER drink like that again.Any help really appreciated And sorry for probably boring you with that overlong story hahaThanks
