If cystitis has not gone after 3 day antibiotic treatment, have I become immune to it?
I've had cystitis a couple of times before over the last year or so, usually after sex, and have used the antibiotics Trimethoprim on a 3 day course each time, and each time they have worked and stopped it. The cystitis came back on friday, and I started the antibiotics on Monday after sending in a urine sample. The cystitis feels better than it did, but is still mildly present today, with only 1 pill left to take. As far as I know the tablets are meant to work within 24 hours so does this mean that I have become immune to them?I can't get a doctor's appointment until monday so any help would be appreciated Thanks

My doctor believes that i have interstitial cystitis. I am 14 year old female. I don't really know much about this if you could give me information that would be great I would like to know about side effects, Diet, can i go on being a gymnast, and what are some treatment options. Thanks so much
I had cystitis (again) and now I feel ..... odd.?
I got cystitis on Saturday evening, took cystopurin but it took a few hours to work unlike last time which worked within 5 minutes and Sunday I didn't feel great. I got a doctor's appointment on Monday and she gave me a 5 day course of nitrofurantoin I was ill with the 3 day course antibiotic last time I had this, so she changed it to this she also said I had a very small trace of blood in my urine. I felt run down and tired all throughout the week and had to stay inside because I literally wouldn't have managed to go to college. Today Friday is my last dosage of the antibiotic and I felt nausea, cold all the time it's also the first time I have been out this week once I got home I knocked back loads of water and the nausea has gone but I still don't feel right and I have a slight headache, plus I still don't think my water works a still back to normal yet.What is it that I could have? Would I still have a bladder infection or could it have spread to the kidneys? I believe I asked this last time but this time feels different .xxx

a year ago I lost my virginity to my boyfriend that I was with for a very long time, I started having pressure pains and discomfort and felt like I needed to pee all of the time. It turned out that I had a uti so i took anitbiotics & my uti took about 5 months to finally clear bc i kept having sex & wasnt supposed to.. but i went back to the dr bc it felt like i still had one.. well i didnt.. I started looking up uti symptoms and it turns out that i could possibly have interstitial cystitis? it feels like you have a uti but you dont.. it is the most terrible pain when it comes.. it comes & goes. i drink so much water & never drink cokes, ive tried azo pills but i still get the pain & pee so much bc of all the water i drink. My mom is gonna take me to the back to the dr soon to see whats up. BUT HAS ANY OF YALL HAD THIS? IT LOOKS LIKE ITS A PERMANENT THING.. WILL IT EVER GO AWAY? I WANT MY BLADDER BACK TO NORMAL..please help.
Is it normal to be incontinent when you have cystitis?
Obviously this is one for the ladies, so I have cystitis and it is causing me a lot of pain. It is not presenting in the usual way, so instead of having to pee more freqeuntly and only a little bit, I am going more than usual but I am passing a lot at a time and it is stinging and causing me a lot of pain. However I have become incontinent as well, when I get the urge to pee I literally have to go within two minutes or I will wet myself. I also made myself a cuppa and while pouring the drink out I peed in my underwear without realising it was coming even Thankfully already bought some Tena lady pads but I am genuinely worried, I am 28 and this should not be a problem for me. I have mild thrush as well so I have inserted a pessery into my bits and I am now waiting on it making its way out.Please help ladies, btw I have been trying to make a doctors appointment but with no luck they are always gone within five minutes of the phone lines opening
Does this sound like cystitis or something else?
For the past two days I have been urinating constantly. As soon as I go to the toilet it feels as though my bladder is full again, if I go back to the toilet a tiny trickle is all I pass. I have an ache in my back and when I pointed out where to my boyfriend he said that's where the kidney is it's only one side that aches. My bladder constantly feels full and if I ignore the feeling knowing that when I visit the toilet only a little if anything will come out I start getting shooting pains low down past my stomach. I have been told that this sounds like cystitis but there is no burning when I urinate or afterwards. I am not sure whether I should visit a Doctor or whether I will be wasting his time. Does anyone have any thoughts on what this sounds like?It's definitely not a STD I know that for sure.I have just been to the walk in centre and got antibiotics. Thanks for all your advice.

NEW studies, medicines or treatments for interstitial cystitis?I'm 18 years old. I was diagnosed with Interstitial Cystitis in 2009. I've had kindey problems, such as stones & infections since i was 9 years old. Also been diagnosed with several other things that go along with I.C. I've tried so many different things, trying to find something to get rid of the pain. My flair up started August of 2011 and has not stopped since. I've been on Elavil, Elmiron, and several other normal medicines that are prescribed. I've had bladder treatments, 2 different types of the normal ones that are done. I've had a bladder distention. No help at all. They did find that my bladder only held 1 7 of the normal bladder & that when they stretched my bladder, all it did was crack & bleed. I've also done pelvic floor rehab. I've been on the diet for over 7 months now. & i do keep myself very strict with it. Pretty much I have done everything that is " normally" done. I know other options are bladder reconstruction or removal. But I'm 18 years old, & thats not something that I would even consider at this point. I want to know if there is other options.Other treatments. Other medicines. New trials. something. I'm pretty much willing to try anything at this point. Most everything my doctor which is a I.C. specialist wants to try, contradicts with something else I am taking or something else I've been diagnosed with. Its a huge problem. I have kidney stones on a regular basis, sometimes passing them weekly. I've had several surgeries to bust them up. They removed 9 out of one kidney in one surgery. Also diagnosed with IBS irritable bowel syndrome . Some medicines cause constipation, therefore I have to take another medicine to reverse that. Also diagnosed with Dysautonomia, Taking Elavil flairs this up big time. Also diagnosed with a disease that is similar to Lupus. There is just so much going on. I would like to find a doctor that can treat all of this. Because from my research this all goes together and is common together. Me going to different specialist for each thing is not working. They do not work together. One perscribes one thing, next one has to change that so they can perscribe whatever. Me & my mom have talked about trying to find a specialist for everything, but have no clue where to find one or how to. can anyone tell me some new studies for I.C. or new medicines or new treatments. And a doctor that specializes in everything I have. Please. Any info will help
Interstitial cystitis, newly diagnosed. Pain is unbearable!?
I cannot even sleep for the past 2 weeks, at night it seems like it gets worse, the pain is horrible I don't know what to do, I don't want to be like this forever...does an IC diet really help?

Hello. The past 4 years, ive been getting cystitis maybe 25 times, or roughly 2 times in a 3 month period. Its the same thing everytime. I wake up, go pee, and then feel the worst pain a human can possible feel. It feels like someone is pushing a knife in down their, and it continues after im done peeing. I think it keeps returning because I dont always remember to pee after sex. But we use a condom everytime. Its back again now, and got some pills 4 days ago, which were supposed to work now, but it hasnt changed a bit. Im very depressed when i dont have cystitis, so you can only imagine how i feel when i have it. So my question is, is it possible to get some kind of operation to for example remove something that are causing it? I dont know that much about the human body, so i have no idea what is in there. Just that it hurts. Please help I litterely cant take it anymore. Oh, and also, does it make the bacterias grow, if i sit on a warming pad blanket? Its the only thing that maked it somewhat bareable, but is still hurting a lot.

I had sex for the first time 4 days ago and we didnt use a condom which i know is not good. I took plan b. and dont plan to do it again but now i have a bladder infection i believe. I have the frequent urge to pee and there is some spotting this is a side effect of plan b though . It doesnt really hurt or burn but my urine is clear and does smell. I cant go to the doctor because i cant tell my mom i had sex and i dont have any money myself to pay for it. I have been trying at home remedies like cranberry juice, lots of water, and apple cider vinegar, but i also read you have to get antibiotics to get it to fully go away. is this true? and if it is my sister has some amoxicillin left over from an ear infection she had and was wondering if that would be ok to take?
Could I have interstitial cystitis?
I have had UTI cystitis? symptoms for about seven months now, and they have not responded to any treatment. I have been tested a few times and less than half of them have found bacteria in my urine that could be causing it, but the last test was in early January.I have seen four different doctors and placed on three rounds of antibiotics twice on Bactrim , but my symptoms have not let up. The only thing that keeps the pain from being constant is drinking a lot of water.I am worried that it's probably not a UTI, because this has been going on for more than half a year and my current doctor says that it would have gone to my kidneys at this point.I am 17 and not sexually active.My symptoms are as follows Pain pressure in my lower abdomen when peeing A horrible ''tickling'' sensation that follows a few seconds after peeing it's hard to describe but it is extremely uncomfortable. Constant need to pee, but only drops come out Strong smelling pee happens most of the time When this happens, I'm pretty much bound to the bathroom for one or more hours, and there's nothing I can do but drink several bottles of water and wait for it to " kick in." I'm getting desperate. I've missed many classes and days at school because it gets really bad sometimes. I can't go out often, and if I do, I have to make sure I'm close to a bathroom at all times. It's starting to interfere with my daily life in general.What could it be at this point? Could it be interstitial cystitis?

Cystitis and bed wetting?
I have cystitis, I'm treating it naturally at home and it's getting a lot better. I was just wondering if wetting the bed is normal. I'm 19 years old, it seems weird to me that that happened. It wasn't a whole lot, just enough to wake me up this morning. I've had a UTI before and I never wet the bed.
