My father-in law is 64 and has had copd for the past 10 years badly and has been on oxygen?
How can he apply for a lung transplant? He smokes and I know he will have to quit, but for how long before the transplant would take place does he have to quit. I want him to live. We live in Kingman, Arizona. How do we apply for the transplant. Thank you anybody that can help us out.

84 year old mother has emphysema, copd and suggesting surgery for bleb, any alternatives to invasive surgery?
Blebs are all over both lungs, according to doctor who read the mri x rays. She has had her left lung collapse 3 times in two months, just had back surgery 4 days ago for a compression fracture osteoporosis plus has a weakened heart. Instead of invasive surgery they are opting for talc procedure for tomorrow if they don't opt for the pace maker first. Any thing we ought to know as it relates to any othe available procedures? thanks stephanie I was just going to say treatment but ran out of room. I know that makes my heart rate go up most of the time. I am on a lot of bp meds to . I take the breathing treatments every 4 hrs or so. But God Bless you for your time

i am in my mid 50's smoked the past 30 yrs i know i know trust me I am paying for it now. in Nov out of no where with no previous signs I was diagnosed with congestive heart failure a little lasixs and on my way back to work March 1 I was admitted into hops with an irregular heart rate angio showed small blockage in lower heart muscle minimal damage from an undetected heart attack. a little meds and r and r I was sent home at home COULD NOT GET OUT OF BED placed blame on the meds to regulate my heart could not stand without feeling weak I stopped the meds went to work 4 hours later back home sick The next day back in hosp 200cc plural fluid extracted from lungs Back on arrhythmia meds stabilized and released Its been a week now I STILL HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO ENERGY and a new symptoms has surfaced upon standing I can not catch a deep breath each time my gagging reflex makes this fright full experience worse. 1 month ago I was on vitamins today I have 3 inhalers and 5 different meds. Visited a Pulmonologist today no wheezing in lungs o2 good sent on my way. can someone please tell me why my o2 saturation is between 95 and 97 yet I CAN NOT BREATH when I stand and also when I lie flat?
