My elderly neighbour swallowed a balloon, she has been quarantined for botulism?
my daughter was playing with her new puppy which she recievied 2 weeks ago.she quite quickly bacame unwell, now she had been diagnosed with botulism, apparently it was from disturbed ground near the back of our properties. They have advised us not to enter that area, and to wash all vegetables from the contaminated land and dispose of them.Unfortunately the vegetables have been eaten by my daughter, and my sister who has chrones.I am very concerned because our puppy was playing in that land behind the house with my daughter. What should i do? Should i bath them in antiseptic solution? My other neighbour gave us iodine yesterday to wash our mouths with and any crokery we have used. Please help

What are the chances of botulism when making an infused olive oil using dried herbs?
Botulism is scary and I don't want it.I want to make an infused olive oil using the cold method, letting the herbs soak in the oil at room temp. around 75 degrees for a couple weeks. Will the cold infused olive oil be ok and free from botulism when using dried herbs, or is there a risk of botulism?

Should I be worried about botulism?
Around January I bought a few jars of jam from a woman at a farmers market. Today I saw that we still had the pumpkin butter in our fridge, we had never opened it.So I opened it, it was sealed properly I had to pop off the top with a can opener but there was a bit of pumpkin butter on the bottom of the lid. It looked and smelled fine so I ate some on toast, tasted fine too.And now I'm panicked? I have a history of worrying about my health. My only symptom is that I feel like I could faint and that my body is numb but that could be the anxiety. Web research is definitely not helping. If the pumpkin were contaminated would there have been some sort of indication? At what point in the day can I stop worrying and chalk it up to hypochondria? Thank you.

Chance of botulism...what can we do?
My little brother has cerebral palsy, and speaking doesn't come naturally. We all used single serving soup packets, and he didn't want to eat his, but we insisted he take a few bites. Afterwords I found out it was rancid...the stuff was so awful I almost threw up.From my research, the only kind of food poisoning you get from improperly canned bean soup is botulism...the kind that enervates and kills you. He doesn't seem to be sick at all, but the Mayo clinic website implies it could be anywhere from four hours to eight days before symptoms show up. It's not like we know he has it. But what can we do? Could a doctor do anything when he doesn't appear to be sick at all? Because of his difficulty communicating, I'm not sure we'd know anything was wrong until it was too late. The websites say the stuff is heat resistant...would having microwaved it 90 seconds make any difference?

Question about botulism?
If I take some DRIED herbs, the leaves and some flowers, which are dry, and soak them in olive oil and let it sit at room temperature, 75, for a couple weeks, will botulism grow, or is there a chance of it?I saw a video and read online how to make an herbal infused olive oil using dried herbs. But what really is the chance of botulism? And how much of a risk is it to make your own infused olive oils?Is there a risk even if you use the oil topically? Will be ingesting the oil as well.

Am I at risk of botulism?
Hello all,I recently found a Tupperware container full of pasta that had been sitting in my car for about 3 weeks or so. Of course, the pasta did not look as it should, but instead as a liquid material. I opened the tupperware to be greeted by a disgusting smell, after which I promptly disposed of the tupperware. Would it have been possible for me to contract any botulism spores if some existed simply by breathing? Thanks for your help.Okay, thank you. Also, I have several small cuts on my fingers. When I was rinsing out the Tupperware, I don't remember any of the food material getting on me regardless, I made sure I washed my hands with soap and water afterwards. Would it be possible that I contracted botulism through these small cuts? Thanks.

Beer Botulism........?
Tonight I was drinking with a friend and we ran out of alcohol, so we decided that we would drink this beer that he had from 1991 he had it as a decoration . We were waiting for it to cool down in the fridge when another friend said that we shouldn't drink it because we could get botulism. I said we wouldn't get it because the seal hadn't been broken and it is perfectly safe. Long story short we didn't drink it because we sobered up enough to realize it was a dumb idea even if we didn't get sick...Could we have gotten botulism tho? or any other kind of sickness?
