Our dog just got diagnosed with Blastomycosis and we asked our vet if its contagious to us and she said she wasn't sure... it didn't " appear" to be. Does anyone know?

Over 5 years ago a group of highschoolers from Eagle River touring the recycling facility came down with the flu like symptoms. Since they all got ill at the same time more investigation revealed blastomycosis, a fungal pneumonia, infection. The recycled leaf pile was blamed as the culprit.

I had to have lung surgery for blastomycosis had lungs drained twice. about a year later my chow stop eating ALL blood work and everything came up ok he stop eating, feaver lost weight does that have something to do with what i had. he passed away he was my EVERY BREATH OF LIFE HE WAS MY BABY. I had a autopsy done it showed stomach cancer this never showed up in any test he had any and ALL blood work done. so what?
Blastomycosis?
We had just received a confirmed diagnosis of blastomycosis that our beloved elder dog. We are saddened to say he is not able to receive treatment and the diagnosis is fatal. With that on our hearts and beginning to research this fungus...We are concerned because our dog has not been anywhere but our backyard. We have lived in this house and had our furry family member for over 10 years. How can this just now be happening? To further our concerns My female Boston terrier, which stays inside, has a small fungus occurring in her ear and we will have that also tested asap. Since this apparently is in our backyard, is it likely for us humans to get this fungus? How can we determine the location? What are the beginning symptoms? I am alerted to the fact of a recent nodule in my husband s lungs can this be tested for blastomycosis? Singed, lots to think about and prayers requested.
