How long does it take to recover from slight atelectasis caused by an upper resporty infection?
I have been on the zpack for 3 days now so the infction is about gone
Chest tightness, dry cough, mild atelectasis, and some pain from coughing?
This started in July after I inhaled some dust while working in a ceiling fiberglass, but no asbestos . In 2007 I worked in asbestos abatement four about 4 months but always had full protection of double suits, containments, HEPA mask, etc. Should I be worried about this mild atelectasis on my xray?

The doc said I have atelectasis?
so I looked it up.It said something about collapsed lung and possible asbestos exposure.I kept saying that I coughed like an asbestosis patient.For ppl who know of this ailment...tell me stuff like how long it takes to heal. I generally don't heal quickly at all. So I am worried.One lady told me to hold my breath for 10 sec...but I can only hold it 3 sec.I'm on steriods, an inhailer, and a Z pac. I also have Atuss.Help me understand what I have and make me " feel" better...
Can compressive atelectasis be caused by lung cancer or lymphoma?
My boyfriend has smoked since he was 12 he's 41 now and recent CT shows what it says is compressive atelectasis in his lung. The doctor didn't bother to tell us, I read it. He just said the CT said to quit smoking. It also showed fatty liver and a growth on his liver. The doctor doesn't seem to feel any of this is important. He's had problems breathing for months now, and being he's smoked all these years, I'm wondering if it could be serious. I've helped him find another doctor, but they don't have an opening until Aug 4. I'm curious as to if we should be concerned with these findings.

3 year old developed an " infection" secondary to a virus...now chest xrays how mile atelectasis in upper left lobe, he is on 2 antibiotics plus albuterol nebulizer 4x day...he remains febrile after 24 hours on antibiotics. Thank you.sorry, meant to say " mild" instead of mile. He is coughing almost non stop and has stopped drinking liquids so far today.

Hiya I am asking this question for my friends mum who recently had a chest x ray because she was having back chest pain with shortness of breath. She has also been diagnosed with retrocardiac density consistant with a hiatus hernia this is what the report said . We are puzzled as to what this is and what treatments if any she may need. She is 55 year old insulin dependant diabetic who suffers with hyper tension and is on medication to treat both of these conditions. Thanks for reading.
The doctor told my mom she has mild Bronchiectasis and something about atelectasis fibroids in each lung?
What does this mean? He just told her they would keep growing and they couldnt do anything about it, but he didnt tell her what it means to her. They didnt schedule a follow up appointment or anything. Ive since called and made her an appoinment with her other doctor who speaks to her clearly, but shes still terrified, He just told her that its this, and we cant do a thing about it, have a good day. Needless to say Im a little annoyed.
Are pneumonia and an atelectasis the same thing?
I am a nursing student with a client who fell off a roof. He has a fever and a chest x ray shows a right upper lobe atelectasis. Are we looking at pneumonia? Could it be a pneumothorax from the fall? He is being treated with antibiotics so I'm leaning toward pneumonia but if it was pneumonia wouldn't they say pneumonia?
What procedure is necessary to differentiate atelectasis from pneumonia?

I'm 29 yrs old and was recently diagnosed with the above, 6 mm with diffuse borders. The pulmonary doc told me they will do another CT scan in one year. She said she didn't know what the atelectasis came from, and referred me to another pulm doctor in the future to read the scan.Then she said my bun creatinine levels and ratio should get checked as well.Since she wasn't big on explaining anything and is no longer my specialist, what could this mean?
