Can i get asbestosis from asbestos shingles?
I've lived in a rental house for 10 years that has asbestos shingles and asbestos insulation on the heater pipe. I had breathing problems since 2002 and after getting health insurance in 05 found out i have asthma. Can this be related to my home environment? It's a very old 1920 house that the landlord refuses to renovate " because he keeps my rent low" . Well he has no choice because of rent control laws here, but I do like the row rent for the location. Problem is I'm concerned it's killing me. I wish he would renovate. Last year I had a terrible mold problem that he also refused to do anything about. I had to clean myself. What recourses do I have?

I had a small shed that I used to use as a workshop but I was unaware that it was asbestos and I have been scraping it to get the moss off and banging and going very close to it when painting.Is it a possibility that I might have asbestosis and do the local doctors or hospital test if I asked.I do not have any problems with breathing or anything but I would like to get tested for it anyway to rule it out.Also are there any symptoms that my doctor would recognise or would I have to go for a CT scan.Because I have been told they do a CT Scan.Also I have only being working with my shed for about 2 years

Hello.Today, my grandfather took off the asbestos from his garage roof. I was nowhere near it at the time.None of it got broken at all.But then, he asked me to help him put a metal roof on, so I did, and worked for about and hour and a half.So, no asbestos was broken.Could I still have asbestosis?

All international Engineering constructions do not use asbestos.Asbestos were used in ships in olden days, and now to destroy the ships, one has to remove the asbestos. I've been to Wittenoom some time ago where the asbestos was mined and spoke to the locals who were appalled at the Government shutting the town. A lot of the town folk were elderly and had lived there for 90 % of there lives with no health issues or asbestosis and with them living and working through the mining period it makes you wonder if the binding agents mixed with the asbestos to bind it into sheets of various thicknesses is responsible for the terminal condition and not just the asbestos alone.
