Can Mitral Valve Prolapse chest pain feel like angina?
I'm 18, and I was just recently diagnosed with MVP Wednesday, May 9. I had chest pains and pressure, short of breath, palpitations, you know. I started taking beta blockers, as the doctor said it would help alleviate the pain and palpitations. I understand that medicine cannot fully get rid of your symptoms, but I still have a little chest pain, not severe however. Except, it spreads to my left arm. Is that normal " chest pain" for someone with MVP? I'm going to a follow up appointment with my doctor Tuesday, so I will ask him when I get there. But I just wanted to ask this question on here, just to see if someone had an idea before I go to the doctor's. I appreciate any and all help. Thank you

Did I have a heart attack or angina?
About 20 minutes ago I was lying in bed and had a lot of discomfort in my right chest spreading to my neck and jaw, the pain lasted for about 7 or 8 minutes and is now coming and going with a lot less pain than before. I am 15 and am slightly overweight, I am 6 foot 1 and weigh 165 pounds, this has never happened to me before , should I do something?

During angina pectoris, how can possible heart rate elevation and decrease in blood pressure occur?
I know that during angina pectoris the myocardium of the heart has a deficiency of oxygen due to atherosclerosis, stress, etc. which causes constriction in the coronary arteries giving that " pain spasm of the chest" . But why does heart rate elevate and blood pressure lower as a patient experiences an angina pectoris? If the heart rate elevates isn't it true that the stroke volume would also elevate causing higher blood pressure rather than lower since the left ventricle would need to use more pressure in order to send the volume of blood out to the systemic circuit? I would greatly appreciate the input for this phenomena. Thank you.My question above was a spin off on one of my anatomy and physiology questions " A patient was admitted to the hospital with chest pains. On admission, his pulse was 110 and bood pressure was 96 64. According to his history, his normal pulse rate is usually between 80 and 88 and his blood pressure runs from 120 70 to 130 80. Explain why these changes in blood pressure and heart rate occur."

How is an angina considered lucky?
i mean an angina is kind of like a warning that your heart has problems. theres a question on the exam which goes like this how is having 'angina' considered 'lucky'?. i dont think its lucky either but obviously in some twisted way it is. i cant just write 'its not lucky'. if anyone has any sort of answer, please tell me

Could I have had instances of stable angina?
I'm 29 years old now. I'd consider myself of moderate fitness level, engaging in martial arts and casual trail running, up to and around half marathon distances. In the past from about my teens , on I'd say less than a handful of times, I've experienced some of the symptoms below, and I wonder if these might have been instances of stable angina. Symptoms were incredible fatigue, some deliriousness, tightness or pressure with some discomfort in left arm on one occasion , and nausea but this mainly swimming, which I'm not strong at . The fatigue was something profound, as I'd never experienced that before. Note that this mainly happened on occasions of extreme exertion, I think sprint cycling. My heart rate would have been exploding and breathing quite hard. I have tried to run at above 90 % with running but don't hold it that long, and I can run for hours without any issues. Quote from another post Angina pectoris is a clinical syndrome of precordial discomfort or pressure due to transient myocardial ischemia without infarction. It is typically precipitated by exertion or psychologic stress and relieved by rest or sublingual nitroglycerin. Diagnosis is by symptoms, ECG, and myocardial imaging. Treatment may include nitrates, blockers, Ca channel blockers, and coronary angioplasty or coronary artery bypass graft surgery. The most common symptom is chest pain that occurs behind the breastbone or slightly to the left of it. It may feel like tightness, heavy pressure, squeezing, or crushing pain. The pain may spread to the Arm Back Jaw Neck ShoulderSome people say the pain feels like gas or indigestion. The pain typically Occurs after activity, stress, or exertion Lasts an average of 1 15 minutes Is usually relieved with rest or a medicine called nitroglycerinAngina attacks can occur at any time during the day, but most occur between 6 a.m. and noon.Other symptoms of angina include A feeling of indigestion or heartburn Dizziness or light headedness Nausea, vomiting, and cold sweats Palpitations Shortness of breath Unexplained tiredness after activity more common in women It may cause mental depression in some patients.Source s nlm.nih.gov medlineplus ency article 001107.htmnlm.nih.gov medlineplus ency article 000201.htmnlm.nih.gov medlineplus ency article 000198.htmen.wikipedia.org wiki Angina pectoris

Slight chest pain...gas or angina?
The last few days I have some VERY slight pain in the center of my chest. I'm trying to determine if it is gas or something with my heart. I am in my late 30s, I do NOT have high blood pressure or high cholesterol, no parental history of heart attacks, no numbness or arm pain. I am rather overweight. I don't feel gassy. I ate a lot this weekend but not yesterday. Lactose intolerant and react to soy, so I do get gassy a lot.
